Building a stronger Qantas

Hi again everyone

As our most valued customers we want to share with you our commitment to building a stronger Qantas. A Qantas that will be better for you.

Qantas International is an important part of the Qantas Group and it represents a core element of our appeal for our Frequent Flyers. The economic sustainability of Qantas International is very important to the whole Qantas Group. But it is a steadily fading business, suffering big financial losses and a substantial decline in market share.

So we must change. We have a five year plan and it starts today. It’s time for a new Spirit of Australia, one that reflects how we live, work and travel today.

Our plan has four elements:
  • Opening gateways to the world
  • Growing with Asia
  • Being best for global travellers
  • Building a strong, viable business
To find out what this all means please visit www.qantas.com/anewspirit and our Media Room on Qantas.com. You can also keep up to date on other Qantas business issues at www.qantasanswers.com.

We also invite you to view a short video message from CEO Alan Joyce. And we’ll be here throughout today to answer any questions that you may have.

This new Qantas will be strong, dependable and profitable now and into the future. And it will bring you an even more rewarding Frequent Flyer program, including more ways to earn and redeem points.

Of course, as we build a stronger Qantas, some things will never change.

We will always be owned by Australians. We will always be proud that the vast majority of our operations are based in Australia. We will always be Australia's national airline. We will always be committed to the highest standards of safety.

And we will always call Australia home.

Alan Joyce really is delusional...he complains that International routes have been suffering, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out why, their service (for the most part) is s**t.

Customer service starts from the top and filters down Alan...if there are problems the buck stops with AJ, and just like an AFL coach cops it when the team is losing, so should Alan...it's time to go!

Thankyou..rant over (for now!)

The Australian patriotic thing sounds completely false when delivered in an Irish accent!

Don't get me wrong, I love the Irish... it's just that if you are going to play the patriot card, get someone with the right accent!

Some long overdue upgrades to the ratty 747's with the broken IFE and padless seats in J.
At last a First lounge in Singapore that's worthy of the title.

But nothing for WP's re P1

I guess at HKG they can just turn the current F lounge space into an actual F quality lounge.

Wow, woke up in PER about 15 mins ago with the news on ABC24.

Awaiting the delivery of AJ's speech at the Westin. Here we go! Gee, terrible quality on the audio!

re: P1

We are planning on announcing these details in Q4 this year.

Just was reading the executive summary around fleet ...... no mention of the 787 up to FY20 ???? have they decided to cancel the order ? or did i miss something ?

Will be interesting to see how JAL look at Jetstar into Japan .....

So from what i can gather:

JNB QF flights dropped? doesn't actually say but that is my assumption

Santiago replaces EZE.

KL flights look certain too with MAS

No other word on dropped routes that i can see..

It is a partnership with JAL and Mitsubishi... so they must be ok with it!

"Consolidation of flights to London through Singapore", Joyce.

Sounds like SIN will be the only connecting port from Australia to London, with HKG-LHR and BKK-LHR to go to and BA codeshares replacing them. This seems strange given they're updating the HKG F Lounge.

Slides on Capex for QF int wrt a/c acquisitions covers this, as do PDF MRs that go with the announcement.

Thats correct, BA taking up the slack, its mentioned in the ASX re the increased JSA!

Hmmm, I'd rather connect in HKG with CX to LHR, not BA (as I just did and even my wife commented how good they were on service - much better than our QF flight SYD/HKG).

JNB to remain African gateway...I thought they may have codeshared that with SAA.

I think that the premium Asian airline might make use of the new F lounge in HKG.

Hi guys,

No changes have been announced on JNB. We will let you know if this changes.

Cheers,
Red Roo

QF metal to terminate at HKG & BKK. Will need to use the BA codeshare to continue to LHR.
