I have 3 P segments today, SLC-DFW-ORD-LAS, all in P (first class)

Bad weather in Dallas cancelled the first segment.

Have been reputed Y SLC to ORD then the original P ORD-LAS.

Is there isn't compensation available and can I get the original routing credit from AA.

I am flying on my QF number but OWE.

Any documentation that I should get while I'm here?

Thanks guys.

Assuming you don't get credited as per the original ticket.

Get the travel done, keep copies of all original BP's and e-tickets (hopefully you OLCI'd and kept a .pdf copy of the AA tickets).

You can them email these as attachments to frequent_flyer(at)qantas.com.au explaining the problems that caused the rre-routing etc.

Qantas should give you ORC (Original Routing Credit) if you email them per serfty's advice, but if you have any issues with that, contact AA via their "contact us" link and they will send you a letter (via email) to confirm what happened. Used that a while ago when needing proof of travel disruption for Travel Insurance purposes.

When this happened to us last year mrsdrron actually got better compensation from AA than if she got ORC from QFF.But then I was doing the complaining as an AA LTP.She got enough Aadvantage miles to offset the loss of SCs-which weren't needed for requalification.

Was this a YUP fare? I'd be interested to know what happens with original routing credits in those circumstances. I had an incident where flight mechanincal caused a downgrade, i chose to wait for the next flight, but always wondered if i would have received full F credits if I'd flown Y.

Yes it was YUPP. I was also downgraded to Y on the SLC-ORD sector. Just got in actually. Got my F on ORD-LAS though.

Thnxs for help, will keep all documents.
Should there be monetary compensation as I paid for three P sectors and got one P and one Y instead?

Bad storms across Dallas.

Was in SLC yesterday, the last day of the snow season and we had a blizzard that shut the highway. Most unpredictable place.

Fully recommend the Garden Inn Hilton there.

I know it's a slight technicality but you weren't downgraded as such - on a YUP it is that the upgrade was not available.

Would still be interested to know if anyone has actual experience of an original routing credit (in F) where irrops has caused travel in Y?

You certainly dont if you are flying with your AA number in-it is basically in the terms of the ticket-upgrade not available so bad luck.As I said before though even though mrsdrron was flying with her QFF number in she was compensated by AA as she has an AA account-so we did not get to test QFF.Shows that I still have a lot to learn as an AFFer as we did not try to double dip!

indeed this is correct. On YUP type fares, if the P class is not available, even for voluntary and involuntary changes, then it books into Y according to the fare rules. This has always been one of the risks with using the instant upgrade fares.

It can't hurt to ask for Original Routing Credit and see if Qantas is willing to credit accordingly. Many people have reported success in doing this. But there is no guarantee that you will receive it as the fare rules are clear about the booking classes and what happens in case of voluntary or involuntary changes or re-routing.

I have received ORC for a LAX-SFO segment.

Back when it was $160 e/w I was booked in A class but my flight was cancelled. AA in the F/L put me into Y class on an earlier flight and it showed up on Qantas.com as economy 20 sc's. An email as I described up-thread with little further ado had this changed to 60SC.

YMMV
