I have read a little in other threads on how to capitalise on purchases through Bunnings. I am about to install a second bathroom at home estimated spend of $7500 at Bunnings. So if I buy coles vouchers at 5% discount with my NAB Plat Visa I recieve 7500 points plus a $375 upfront discount http://www.entertainmentbook.com.au/coles. Then I would purchase Bunnings cards at Coles and pick up Flybuys? Not sure about that?

Then with the Bunning Powerpass I can recieve further discounts in store on building materials, tiles, vanities etc.

So I guess my direct question is, is there anywhere I can purchase Bunnings or Coles Vouchers at a discount with my NAB Amex card to capitalise further or please feel free to critique my plan in case I have stuffed up something :)

You would have to buy multiple Entertainment Books, as you are capped at $4000 worth of Coles gift cards per year.

Just be careful maybe just a once off but end of last year upon checking out a gift card with a gift card the checkout guy looked at it twice then said "oh no sorry there are some gift cards we are not allowed to get on gift cards". I have done it a few times before without any issue including bunnings/officeworks/liqourland, but just be aware that technically maybe coles have a policy to stop this but its not enforced by many. Nothing really stopping you from the HUACA method at the checkout though!

Hang Up And Call Again, or at a shop go to the next checkout (leave and come back) :p

Is this idea able to be done with Woolies and Masters?
Do Woolies sell Masters Gift cards?

Yes, in fact you don't even need to get separate cards, the Entertainment book or RACV cards etc. work automatically at Masters so you don't need to buy gift cards to get it to work

however you dont get a 5% discount as you would with a wishcard

In the flybuys thread I lamented the loss of Bunnings gift cards as a redemption. The flybuys rep said I could use a coles gift card to buy Bunnings gift cards at Coles so I doubt coles has any policy against it.

Masters are often a better choice with their wish gift card acceptance, given their frequent 10-20% off promos.

Masters accept your Woolies gift cards that you can get 5% off from RACV in your case.
Grab the real frequent flyer points from your Woolies EDRCC or equivalent and pass on the dinky Fly Buy points that are worth about 80% less.
Bunnings prices can be matched so save an extra percentage at Masters.

On identical items, which is why they offer it.

Bunnings and Masters have enough buying power to have their suppliers provide them with a special run...and so for most items the 10% is meangingless.

Personally I would rather the extra 1.5 Amex points on in-store Gift Cards than 5% off.

For out-store gift cards I but them when special promos are on.

ie Bought $450 of Kathmandu vouchers today using WOW Everday Promos.

So $547 = 1641 Amex MR points + 457 QFF Points + 2500 QFF points = 4598 points.

Tally Ho

mmm, still don't get it... There is probably something i should be doing with these gift cards ( :) ) but haven't worked it out and not completely sure i can be bothered, but maybe i just need to work it through a bit more...

Getting 1.5 points per dollar using an Amex card on Woolies gift cards is do-able from some places at the 5% off and then EDR offers can supercharge the Deal.
You cannot get that deal from the Wesfarmers/ Bunnings crew as far as I have heard..
