Hi looking at some business class awards flights using velocity points for some internal flight in the US on Delta airlines. Searching via the velocity award search. I remember reading somewhere that theres a difference with business/first in the US but cant remember exactly what that is. Is it that there is no business class? Only economy and first?
Then flights I'm looking at when going to book say "due to availability seating will be in FIRST cabin for the following flights"
Des this mean we'd be booking first class flights? I don't want to use extra points then end up in economy!
It would be on the 320 if that makes a difference:)
Also would baggage be an extra cost?
Thankyou

I do not think that US domestic business class exists but the domestic first class in the states is equivalent to our domestic business class

US domestic "first" is mostly the VA J bucket seats on domestic flights - dont expect much but its still better than Y. I know youre using points but check the F price first because majority of time, Ive booked F seats for less or almost less than the Y seat. Crazy but SC win for us.

Depending on the route and plane, you can get some better flat bed seats but thats the bigger routes. We scored flat beds LAX>ATL but they were quite old/original generation.

Delta got my husband hooked on Biscoff, cant find them in Coles anymore and hes quite upset.

As stated by others, I don't believe there is such thing as domestic business class in the US. Their domestic first class is basically the same as our domestic business class, although my experience is that the service there is not as good as ours. I have flown domestic first class with Delta a few times recently and baggage is included. Your Virgin status should get you a baggage allowance in economy in any case.

Also mention that I dont think having a domestic "first" will give you lounge access.

VA SG or WP will get you into their skyclubs.

Flew them last month, all on "First Class". They were quite good, on a par with VA J, so its a good fit. We were surprised as we went to enter their lounge that first class tickets don't give you lounge access. Pulled out our Amex Plat Charge and no problems entering.
