The On Departure Upgrades are "interesting" as they make me want to book Y+ and then pay a much smaller amount to get upgraded as J seats are obviously not filling.

One thing I love about QF is that they do not devalue the premium product.

However, you have sold me on booking VA or QF for an upcoming flight and I'll bite the bullet and book into J for the guarantee of a J seat along with a bucket load of Amex points (4.5 points per $1) and 35,000 Velocity points.

How did you get into row 5 ?

VA make it like you need to make a special request/booking for this?

Apologies for the late reply!

We just asked at check-in if Row 5 was available and luckily it was - although normal J looked just as good, though there were no curtains for privacy...

Everyone travelling J on VA should definately try Row 5. Was the best business class experience i've had...

About to book a few VA flights so will ring them and see if I can select row 5 at that stage. I am guessing not as they promote it a step above business class V Australia > row five

If not I'll be at the airport early to ask upon check-in :)


Another Q. Do they keep the "bar" area well stocked ?

Absolutely. I remember having breakfast about an hour out of Brisbane and seeing the alcohol still sitting proudly on the bar (though the thought of more alcohol made me want to gag lol)
