Business Class seats A330

Thanks.

If I pay for business class it is not because I want to sleep. I can sleeep in economy. I want to enjoy the experience just like I did the other day in business on SYD-HKG on a QF747. Great experience. I think I accidentally fell asleep for 10-15 minutes which was disappointing.

Then QF is definitely the better option. CX is very spartan when it comes to service. Ultra quick and nothing elaborate. And they don't mix particularly good drinks.

Hi All,

Is there much difference between business class on the A330 and the B777 ??

Looking at seatguru the seat look very slightly narrower - other than pics look very similar.

I'm building an itinerary next year to try out various BC products/planes and the only one that I wanted that I'll miss is the B777 on CX - however I will be flying Business on the A330 product.

Cheers

BR

The 777 product feels substantially larger and the cabin has a more spacious feel

No problem, CX service is far superior to QF in J (and all classes really) - nothing is too much to ask and it's hard to fault them given they just have a lot more staff on the ground to respond and deliver.

I tend to find QF J service either aloof or overly friendly and unprofessional by comparison. I hate pressing the call bell to be met with a dour face after interrupting galley FM!

I've had consistent above average service on CX. It's like the level of average is higher than QF.
I have a theory with crew and attitude towards their working sectors. For example CX crew get 1 day in AU + 2 days rest and it's considered medium haul. They get good allowance in Australia.
Anyone know what Qantas crew get?

I don't find the CX service superior. My QF flight was very good and the cabin crew professional. CX too robotic and very hit and miss.

On the same day I had my first RJ business class experience on A330. Awful. Cabin crew totally disinterested.

I also had my second UL business class experience. Cabin crew totally disinterested.

The only reason I would fly these carriers is for an award flight or if I need cheap SCs.

See i had nothing to be happy about with any of my CX flights. the service was pathetic to say the least.. Even the service i had on BA the following night was better. And not once have the recognised my status.

CX134 MEL-HKG A330-300 - any desired seats? Any to avoid like the plague? I assume this is the 3 Class version with herringbone seats?

reverse herringbone! (1-2-1 configuration rather than the coffins in 1-1-1).

Avoid the second cabin. If the flight is not full they may move you to keep it free for the crew to sleep (there are no crew rest bunks on CX's A330s). I tend to sit a couple of rows up from the back of the main cabin. Window seat (x2 if travelling as a couple).

You need to elaborate rather than make unjustified comments.

I've had 100% satisfying CX service, way better and quicker than anything I've had on Qantas.

Unjustified? I've had half a dozen flights with CX and found them average at best for service. I've posted it before too. Last trip in PE they (the cabin crew) were hardly even seen and despite falling asleep before the breakfast meal came out and missing they were basically too bad so sad wait for the next meal..

I'll also add that they have never once recognised my OWE or Marco Polo gold status.

The amaroo's have taken out the following rows ... booked moments ago (points) and I needed to call QFF to get the seats allocated.

Thanks MEL - if rdpt booked through QF can you select seats on QF web site or need to call CX?

you can do it on line at CX! (if you have the CX PNR).

I tend not to allocate seats on the operating airline through another airline. Plenty of times I've seen QF offer a whole empty cabin - no resemblance to the actual available seats on CX.

For multiply seats the CX process is a PITA. FWIW I've allocated >50 CX award seats via QFF and never had an issue ... always check EF (as per image posted) and never had a problem - YMMV.

Not everyone has the same experience.

When are you on CX134 ?
I'm flying it in April if you're before me I'd love to get your feedback.
Re: seats I went with 14A also on MEL_Traveller's advice.

Seems like they recently upgraded this route ?
I'm pretty sure the FCO route used to have the 343 aka the dreaded "coffin" lol

Not flown CX to Rome before .... 1996 was the last time I flew into Rome and it was on QF - those were the days.

I changed flight date yesterday and map still show B777-300ER. Random schedule in March shows 77W (300ER) for CX292/293.
