Hi all

Looking at doing a status run from NTL-BNE-SYD-DPS return in J

The NTL-BNE leg is in Economy as its a Dash-8

I just wanted to check that QF still credits the SCs for this leg at J rate and all the other J benefits apply?

Thanks

It will credit as the fare class of that leg
Ok thanks so Flexible Economy at 20SC

What about baggage allowance?

And a question for lounge access on the return trip for BNE-NTL would I have access to the BNE domestic business lounge?

I have read the QF website as
International Business

Eligible if connecting to or from a Qantas or Emirates international flight on the same day.

Considering I am doing DPS-SYD-BNE-NTL

Baggage allowance as per the international sector. Be aware that the carry-on allowance for Dash 8s is less than for jets.

Yes, you'll get lounge access at BNE for the return sector.

Thanks, do you think the lounge access at BNE dom would be Business lounge or Qantas Club?

Actually, The Business Lounge should be available since @motef would be connecting as an International Business class passenger.

Both on QF rules and oneworld rules ...

Lounge Locations | Australia | Brisbane Domestic
Wouldn't the OP be eligible for the domestic business lounge in SYD, not BNE, since that is where the connection is being made between the international business class flight (DPS-SYD) and the (first) domestic flight (SYD-BNE)?

If he is in J, then J lounge access applies, irrespective of status.

Hence this is my confusion in regards to lounge access. J or Q Pub?

So I am booking a single PNR, NTL-BNE-SYD-DPS-SYD-BNE-NTL

But as NTL-BNE and BNE-NTL is Dash 8 there is no J

Obviously NTL doesn't have a lounge so no issues on which lounge to use on the outbound but on the inbound its clear that I can use the J lounge in Dom at SYD but does the "International Connecting" rules apply to the second leg for the lounge in BNE?

That's what I was querying in my post above. I don't believe they do but happy to be corrected if am mistaken.

The rule relates to any connecting flights in conjunction with a same day International Business flight. There is no specific text in relation to the international to/from domestic connection port.

Business Lounge access should be available at any of the connections.

I'd like to see how this works out in practice. :) OP, if you would be so kind as to report back with your experience after your travels that'd be great.

I will happily report back.

The flight is in mid August though so check back then, unless anyone else tries this out in the mean time.

I see @serfty interpretation and that is my thoughts too but I can see how it could go either way

Is "connecting flight" just one physical flight or a series of flights, we will see.

If you have an international J class sector then you will be entitled to J class lounges as any of your connecting ports. Just have your international J boarding pass ready to show at the lounge entrance in conjunction with the next onward boaridng pass. I can confirm this works for multiple same day connections, including those 'once removed' from the international flight.

I've learned something new today (and should have known that, frankly, but it seems an obscure rule). Not sure how many same-day domestic Y connections I've had in the past with an international J flight same day but I have one coming up in 2 weeks and it meets this criteria, so I'll give it a try. Not even on the same PNR so it almost seems naughty to flash the J boarding pass for those flights but it does beat being in the QP lounge.
