Business lounge access after arrival [Red eye from PER]

Do you mean entry into the lounge is possible even when not flying, just by showing my Platinum card? I often take my daughter to the airport for her flight home (she has no status, and likes to get there early) and would love to just get a quiet coffee upstairs.

No, sorry. If you are WP you can access domestic lounge after your flight. Anytime access no longer the case.

Hi I saw on an article here a year ago that Qantas business class passengers travelling on the overnight flight from Perth to Brisbane could access the business lounge upon arrival in Brisbane, but Qantas has just told me that’s not the case... has anyone had any recent experience where they were able to? Thanks.

Yes, definitely you can use the lounge on arrival. I ducked in for a very quick breakfast before going to retrieve my suitcase when flying PER-MEL in late September. Also in Sydney in November. It is definitely available on the overnight flights from Perth to the east coast.

Note that morning access was due to it being an overnight flight in business class. I know I can go into the lounge at anytime as a WP. In either case the problem is having to collect luggage. You are not allowed to leave your bags on the carousel for an hour while you tuck into a sumptuous breakfast.

Regarding another post about lounge access without flying, when I flew from Perth to Sydney in December, my son took advantage of the one hour free parking in the long term car park to have breakfast in the J lounge with me. I think the rule is I have to be flying, as in not be flying but with a non-status passenger who is.

what about BNE domestic lounge access after QF J international arrival connecting to a regional QF dash-8 service? No status with QF. It's a single rewards ticket, that was AFAIR charged at J rates, but lists the domestic leg as economy.

I believe you are entitled to access when connecting from a J international flight regardless of class for the domestic sector. Keep your international boarding pass to show at the J lounge.

I think your chances are good if you plead for one-time discretion. However not entitled per Qantas policy.

You are entitled per OneWorld policy but Qantas is often reported on here as not honouring OneWorld policies.

I have done exactly this. Arriving on SCL-SYD in J, connecting to SYD-CBR on a Dash 8 in Y. I was admitted into the SYD domestic J lounge by showing the boarding pass for the international flight.

It’s a oneworld rule that Qantas doesn’t follow.
You won’t find any QF reference too it.
Best to play the nice guy and beg for discretion “just this one time”.

Thank you all as always for sharing the knowledge. A couple of references that "Qantas doesn't follow the rule" have planted the seeds of doubt though. Worst case scenario, is it possible to link the pass to the domestic leg, or is the 24 hrs advance rule enforced?

I just asked at MEL whether business pax without status could use the lounge on arrival. I watched as the gears turned and they were processing all the class/status/OW/guest/child etc rules, then finally said no access.

Some have reported good luck with last minute linking.

i recommend showing up with your INT J boarding pass, batt your lashes, if not then login and link your pass.
Unless you have no future use for the pass then link it now.

You should be able to access. The only reason your last sector is Y is there is no J cabin on the relevant flight for your J award. I would point this out to them.

Were you specific in asking about early AM arrives from the West Coast (Perth)?

No.
I posed my question at the SYD J Lounge and got the same answer. I suppose an exemption may exist for transcon flights but the way both answered I really doubt it.
