Does anyone know if there are any current J specials or companion fares to the US (NY)? Looking to travel in Dec - Jan period.

The cheapest I could find was a combination of JL/QF for ~6000 AUD.

Re: Business Special fares to USA

Have you looked at buying a NAN LAX J fare for around AUD$2K?

Re: Business Special fares to USA

About AUD$2200 not bad even after adding on OZ/NAN in Y or J.

Re: Business Special fares to USA

thanks Mark, totally forgot about FJ.

Is the NAN-LAX flight on one of their new birds?

if its on a A330, yes!

Re: Business Special fares to USA

Remember FJ A330 is angled lie-flat (like VA's A330) vs fully flat across the pacific on QF, VA, DL, UA, JL, CX etc.

Re: Business Special fares to USA

Flight is about 11.5 hours NAN/LAX

Re: Business Special fares to USA

As others have said - give FJ a look, but don't forget to check Air New Zealand/ United Airlines / Delta Airlines / as well as the QF CX SQ JL and VA web sites...

Re: Business Special fares to USA

For the price I'd live.

Just note that there are not that many Biz Saver seats left for Dec/Jan.

Re: Business Special fares to USA

The fare is for a friend of mine & his is travelling with wife + 2 kids, so I think FJ may not be for them.
KE is doing $5500 return for that period so I might suggest that. Interesting that SYD gets angled flat while BRI gets lie flat to ICN.

Am I right in saying that you will earn QF FF points flying FJ but not status credits because they're not a Oneworld partner? This is what I was told today by QF if I was t book a J flight with EK as appose to a QF code share operated by EK.

My dilemma is that I need a one way J class flight from Brisbane to Paris. QF like most airlines can be expensive (around $6k - $7k). Emirates allow mix classed travel so if I book J out and Y class back (which I don't need), the fare comes in at $4822. Fabulous but I won't earn status credits :(

I need some ideas...please assist!

Just look on the QF website it clearly spells it out how you earn (or don't earn) status credits / points on various airlines, ticket types and codeshares.

Simply - status credits on EK flight number no. Status credits on a FJ flight number - yes (QF owns almost half of FJ).

Re: Business Special fares to USA

I checked with Qantas and I am am able to claim status credits. Check under QF rules as well

The situation is different with the two different Airlines a FJ number will earn you Status credits, a EK number will not, check the airlines earning tables all the information is there.

You can do mixed class on QF you just need to get a TA to organise since QF booking department won't allow you to do it directly.
