Not as good as the promo that just expired on Jan. 4 - AA keen to sell miles though!

Are there any sweet spots on this promo?

also interested to hear any analysis on this.

for this that had planned travel, that last promo would've been the best AA has offered? 2 opportunities to purchase pre/ post new year to get a significant balance up (and hopefully immediately burn).

My belief is that there will be another promotion after this one which would probably be similar to the recently expired promo.

With the changes coming from March, I do have some planned trips in July and October, but our biggest problem IS THE AUSSIE DOLLAR!!! ITS KILLING ME!

I've been watching the AA miles promotions too and yes the Aussie $ doesn't help when thinking of buying miles . I wish I'd got the extra miles in the early Jan promotion as current one is way less generous .
The March deadline for new bookings is good but I'm still unsure as to if I should buy AA miles now

Last promo certainly better.
my J sweet spots are MEL - HKG and with the pathetic Aussie dollar MEL - PER and MEL - BME.

Ok so it's been so long since I did a post I'm struggling again ( age and various excuses!)
i need some help if anyone could please to use AA points for a business ( or first ) award flight from Perth to Paris in last week of July 2016 and back from anywhere from Europe about early September ?
We've flown Etihad before and could do again as its direct - but the business booking requis 75,000 points each way.
anyone help with directing me to find good option for two seniors ! Looked at AA.com site awards but they pick up a lot of BA ones and go via east coast. I don't mind that as long as we could fly business all way and not be over 35 - 40 hours ! Any help appreciated .

Hi abdul
thanks for taking time to reply
ive been trying to find awards on Cathay but the BA site people suggest using keeps saying search tool is down
is there another way to check award availability on Cathay except via BA site ?

Hi Mary, using BA the best I could find for Cathay was leaving Perth on January 29 in business and connecting to first class in Hong Kong after about nine hours. It would be a nice flight, but it would cost 80,000 points I think.

You can search on Qantas for Cathay awards

Etihad seems to have availability for 2 in Business on July 23, 24, 26, and 27.

Not sure if the above Cathay option is phantom availability.

You could just ring American and see what they can find, I usually find them helpful.
