What experience have you had with BuyAirMiles [dot] com?

I am thinking about using it to buy some points for an upcoming trip to Tokyo; having used all my points over christmas :(
The economics of it, in terms of comparing it's cost against the actual cost of a business class ticket on Singapore Air for SYD-HND.

They charge $19 per 1,000 miles = $0.019 per mile.

It' seems to have quite a few partners,

  • Virgin Atlantic Airways Miles
  • Air Canada Aeroplan Miles
  • AeroMexico Miles
  • Alitalia Millemiglia Miles
  • All Nippon Airways Miles
  • Asia Miles
  • British Airways Avios Miles
  • Delta Skymiles
  • Air France Flying Blue Miles
  • Frontier Airlines Miles
  • Hawaiian Airlines Miles
  • Iberia Plus Miles
  • Korean Air Skypass Miles
  • Krisflyer Miles
  • United Airlines Mileage Plus Miles
  • Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Miles

Of course, this is rather expensive as the value of points in generally $0.010 to $0.012

But even at $0.012 Economy is only worth it, if you already have the points

Thoughts?

are you sure this is a legit website? is selling miles like this legal? I haven't heard of this website before and it looks dodgy to me...

Expensive, and operating outside of the airlines program, you would be better of with lifemiles or US air, keeping in mind SQ availability is very restricted until T-14 days.

Why choose us:

We adopt certain credit card points that can be easily transferred to airline mileage programs.
Unlike airlines that sell as few as 1,000 miles for $27.50 and as many as 40,000 miles for $1,000, we sell 1, 000 miles only for $ 19.
We haven’t imposed any limit on the purchase of miles; travelers can purchase as many as miles they wish.
Transferring of airline miles is also free from the limit tag.
Our process consumes no time because it takes only 24 hours to transfer your miles and post them in your account.
We work in accordance with the changing needs of frequent flyers.
You can just book a ticket even if you possess no earned miles.
We allow our customers cheaper airline miles whenever they require them.

Looks highly dodgy to me. How do they want to be paid? I suppose if it's credit card at least you can try to get your bank to reverse the transaction when your miles don't show up...

I actually purchased from them 60,000 Krisflyer miles and was very happy, The miles posted after a day and I was able to fly on business class, O that was a great flight.

Welcome to AFF.

In my opinion such a purchase is rather risky. (see post #3)

As a matter of interest, how much did you pay for "60,000 Krisflyer miles"?

What flights did you redeem the 60K points on & how far ahead did you have to book?

And what about the poor sucker who purchases 60,000 KrisFlyer miles but the credit card company decides to do a check on the name on the accounts?
