Buying Asia Based Business or PE fares to EUR

The AY fare in the $3600 represents some savings over a full oneworld business class exAU, but there's competition from VN with fares in the $4400 range all the way from Australia. Mixed fares can be had at the moment to Europe for as low as $2200... Philippine airlines economy to Manila followed by China eastern to Europe in the AUD1400 range (departures from Clark). USA s similar pricing, but I'm thinking by the time you get to Manila and transfer to Clark you'd be almost in the USA taking QF nonstop.

Of course, for us in Perth VN is not an option. Which is a pity as most people seem to have had good experiences on it.

Have to assume you're referring to Business on low cost carriers like Scoot, AirAsiaX or Jetstar as no full service carrier is doing fares to SIN/BKK/HKG for around $2000rt. And that's fine if it works with your commitments. Just don't think it works well for someone whose sole destination is Europe. Mind you, Philippines did a sub$2000rt to Manila earlier this year but that's a rarity.
You can frequently get SYD-CGK fares for ~$2K in J on QF just as an example. There's lots of good options to then connect to Europe on decent J fares from there including GA, KL etc.

Would note in July this year because of the Gulf incident, QR had return J ex-Aus around $4,450. SC earn rates lousy.

Finnair were around $5,500 ex-Aus. With a much better SC earn rate. CX service to HK RETURN. AND accidentally, I found when I put a stopover in Singapore ON THE RETURN trip that from there Finnair use CX to fly you back to Australia via Hong Kong. this boosts SC EARN RATES for the same $5,500. Also to note, the QF J service from Hong Kong is available too. All way cheaper than the premium fares on QF or CX Fares

Lufthansa had similar prices for J. SQ to Singapore and either Swiss or Lufthansa from there (SQ J RETURN fares ex-Europe as mentioned elsewhere have been sighted for A $3,000 to $3,500. Now That's cheaper even again. So one could do points to Europe and fly home with SQ and even if you threw away the return leg, cheaper than most of the Premium airlines

There is a deal posted on flyertalk one way with MH TPE-KUL-LHR in business for just over $900AUD.

The catch is your first leg TPE -KUL must be flown in 2017 and must be flown in Z class. However, your second flight can be any day in 2018 on flights with Z class available.

I did a dummy last night 2/12/17 TPE-KUL & 23/09/18 KUL-LHR.

Works perfect for anyone who is already in asia and is planning on visiting europe 2018. MH will also be flying their new A350 from January onwards to LHR.

Getting a flight home from europe to Aus is also a lot cheaper or points if you got some :)
