VFF is going all out on these bonus SCs and points lately.

300,000 points for 5850 AUD. Just under 2c AUD per point, at 1.95c per point.

Not sure on what routes you'll get 2c pp redemption value or more. I guess for Business redemptions... Any other suggestions?

Average I guess.. on your figures, 95500* 0.0195 is $1862.25 each way LAX in J.. Even if the $$ stacked up.. The ability to redeem is a joke on long haul J

I thought you could only buy points for a particular booking as a top up if short. Redemption fares in J are scarce!

They used to say that but never sure how it was enforced if at all.. since the website revamp, it is a drop down option on velocity website..I guess when marketing now to members, giving a bonus incentive to buy, they see it as a way to get more cash.. I note the T&C on the website says when buying " for a specific award " but that's it.

The webstite allows buying up to 250,000 points and currently with 20% you receive 300,000 for $5850..( as mentioned by futaris above )

Cant imagine enforcing a " top up " style system yet offering members to buy 250,000 points....interesting

You know what I hate?

I hate the fact that all the effort we go to, to earn Velocity Frequent Flyer points - is an exercise in futility when we try to redeem them for a popular route like SYD-LAX.

I hate the fact that we (foolishly) funnel our expenditure on credit cards to align with the latest Velocity sign-up or promotion - only to realise that our money would probably be better off just purchasing the bloody fare outright and reaping the SC/sector recognition and points allocation.

Worst of all, I hate that I'm writing this - and only realising it for the first time.
