Bypass duty free SYD INT

I am just staggered that anybody can think a 2 min walk through a DF maze is in any way onerous - in the Lounge / onboard food and plonk consumed until it runs out our ears - an extra 500 steps is such a problem we need to waste effort writing about it? Seriously?
Because I rarely buy duty free so I’d like to avoid it and not be forced to go through it.

Perhaps this doesn't relate to people who are going to the Qantas lounges (either one)
I meander and I don't think it has taken me much more than 5 mins to get to the bottom of the escalator.
I will have to time from once I am released :) into airside to the lounge

And 5 minutes ... that’s another champagne (at a self serve lounge like SKL or EK lounges at MEL):D:rolleyes:
SKL you don’t get Champs unless in F - check-in and lounge in MEL open 3hrs pre dep SYD all day - take out walk time to lounge (even through DF maze) and boarding time still gives you 2hrs to consume the Veuve or Moët on offer in SKL F - then you have a 7hr flight to SIN where you can drown yourself in Krug, Dom or CH which are all way superior to Champs on offer in lounge pre dep - and apon arr into SIN you have arr access into TPR for more Dom or fill up on PH Rare in SKL F SIN - 1 more Champ pre dep in MEL or SYD? Seriously? Even more reason why you need the exercise pre flight

Ah yes, the frame of reference of a committed F flyer. :D

I'm more coming from a point of view of someone who has rushed back to MEL after a long weekend at the holiday home or my mothers place, where with lots of chores, exercise and activity has been plentiful, and wants to maximise time back in Australia, so arrives at check in at T-60 before passing through security, immigration and the duty free shop, before ducking into the SKL F lounge (thanks to partners Solitaire status), downs some food and drink, before showering and proceeding to their economy seat ......:( Every extra minute helps.

Onerous? Probably not. But prefer to avoid it, especially when travelling with children and heading in the SQ/VA direction anyway.
