Call for airlines to charge passenger 'fat tax'

This calorie consumption garbage is becoming a bit of a joke. It really does not have much to do with weight gain or loss.

John, I'm sorry but this just isn't true for 99% of the population.

The only exception would be those very few with hormonal and medical issues for being overweight.

Caloric control or more importantly and accurately analysing your carbs / protein / fat intake and adapting for your lifestyle and physical activity will solve a huge majority of peoples weight issues.

Well 2 years later and my calorie consumption is around 1600 calories a day and I am putting on weight. Why? ....

This is getting a bit OT now, but you haven't mentioned any exercise that you are doing in conjunction. Energy in, energy out - and people in a poor starting point will find it harder and it will take longer but it isn't impossible.

Don't give up!

Travellers support tax on obese fliers

MORE than three-quarters of people believe that airlines should charge overweight passengers extra, a survey has revealed.
More than 76 per cent of travellers supported the move, which would force those unable to fit comfortable into a standard airline seat to purchase a second

Again according to the "top" endocrinologist in NSW, possibly Australia, when one consumes 2,700 calories per day then the body burns 80% by default without any exercise. Well unfortunately he is wrong and even though I know him I spent $240 on the first consultation and then never saw him again.

I haven't given up trying to lose weight and I am still trying hard. As for exercise I do nothing hectic (cannot due to circulation issues) and try to do some basic exercise occasionally. I managed to lose ~6kgs in 6 weeks a few years ago by eating only boiled or grilled food, no alcohol and no exercise. Perhaps it is time to take the same drastic measures.

Without being a medical expert at all it appears as though your particular case ventures into the "medical issues" exception to the energy in vs energy out rule.

If that is the case I don't think anyone suggests that you should pay extra.
