Well proof that there are honest cabin crew. My ipod slipped off the tray table yesterday on my flight MEl-HKG on CX in J. I had a quick look for it and could not find it - so the crew pulled apart the seat (this is 15 mins before landing) and could not find it so took my details and said they would get an engineer to look for it and forward it to me. I was already resigned to the loss and was planning when to buy a new one in NYC next week ;)

As I motored off down the aerobridge and towards immigration I heard "Mr simongr, Mr simongr" and turned to see the CSM springdown the corridor to hand me my ipod :D

I will be logging on to teh CX website today to express my gratitude :D Hmm wonder if that will then flag me as a nice pax for future upgrades ;)

If you need to ask then you know the answer.

Actually it's not just lounges & lockers you need to be careful of - my husband had his travel wallet/bag stolen inside the airport, from one of those baggage Xray machines (airside - after passing through passport control)

He put it on the conveyor belt, then went to go through the Xray frame, but there were a few people in front of him. When he got through, he went to collect his bag, but it was gone - passport, tickets, money, credit cards.

So, the moral of the storey is not to put your valuables (even loose in one of those little plastic trays) onto the conveyor belt until your exit is clear through to the other side. (Not easily done, when security make you go back to remove half your clothing / belts / shoes, etc! )

Some airports, like HKG (and I think SIN), give you a numbered tag (A4 sheet often) to carry through the metal detector with you. The number matches the number of the tray containing your goods. You are not supposed to be able to collect the belongings from the x-ray belt without handing over the numbered tag. But I still doubt its foolproof.

Anyone purposefully stealing from the x-ray machine must really be an opportunist thief. I expect there are times, especially with laptops that look the same, where people accidentally collect the wrong stuff. But would not explain what you have described.
