Can i carry a kids pram?

Can i carry a kids pram in my allocated baggage via Qantas? Or do i need to pay additional? This is a gift.

Many airlines are generous when it comes to allowances for infants.

Qantas is as follows:

Infant items​

When travelling on a Qantas operated flight with a QF flight number, for each infant travelling with an adult, up to three infant items, each weighing up to 32kg (70lb), can be checked in free of charge~. This can include:

• collapsible stroller or push-chair;
• collapsible cot or bassinet; and
• car seat or baby capsule.

Early this year we travelled to Japan with our daughter, SIL and 9 month old granddaughter. We had a Babyzen Yoyo pram which was absolutely fantastic. It is light enough and the correct size to carry on board and stow in the overhead locker which means you are able to use it throughout the airport right up to the aircraft door. The bonus is that you have it as soon as you disembark and do not have to worry about it getting damaged or lost if you check it in.

Edit... I just read that the pram is a gift so would be able to check it in but it would be part of your baggage allowance. I would definitely leave it in its box to protect it.

I believe you can deposit the pram at the special handling position, for no fee, and from my experience, it will come out first…

That should be fine as long as you don't go over number of pieces allowed if there is a piece restriction.
