Can I change name on a classic reward flight?

T&Cs say yes, for QF flights only:

14.7.4 Subject to this clause 14.7, the following changes are permitted to a Classic Flight Reward after ticketing and prior to commencement of any travel and will incur a Change Fee (see the Fee Schedule) per passenger:

(a) change to flight number;
(b) change to date of travel;
(c) change to class of travel;
(d) change to any Segment routing or airline;
(e) change to name (only for Flights with a Qantas (QF) flight number on the ticket that are operated by Qantas); and
(f) request to cancel ticket and re-credit Points. Please note that only Points that would not have expired will be re-credited.

Yes thanks
The booking/pNR that needs name change has 2 flights USA-SYD (different dates). but only need name change to one of the 2 flights.
Herein lies the problem.

3 people flying on Classic rewards
person A has a PNR with 2 flights USA-SYD, QF8 one date in J and QF12 another date in J
person B with PNR QF8 same dates as person A QF8 in PE
person C with PNR QF8 same dates as person A QF8 in PE

Person A wants to only fly QF12 on the other date and name change QF8 flight to person B. Person B then cancels QF8 flight (premium economy)

HUACA says not possible

The reason for 2 flights USA-SYD on different dates on one PNR? I had booked these earlier last year because of uncertainty of dates of travel. Ordinarily the 2 flights would be under 2 PNR but for some reason QF customer service put it under 1 PNR which now creates this problem

Call and ask if you can split Person A's two flights onto different PNRs. If you can do that, you should be able to achieve what you're trying to.

Apparently not (after 2 huaca) to split 2 flights under one name into 2 pnr with the same name.

If a PNR has more than one passenger then able to extract one passenger into separate PNR.

Can you change the flight you wish to cancel to another name, then split, then cancel?

This is a long shot but can you call QF and ask them to waitlist QF8 in J (I assume actually "U" class) in person B's pnr that is currently in PE. Not sure whether they would do this but if you ask for a supervisor or ticketing senior then see if they would call yield management explaining that you want QF8 cancelled from person A's pnr then confirmed in person B's pnr instead.

Not sure whether this would work as you are still technically doing a name change in a roundabout way.

If they allow the robbing Peter to pay Paul scenario then some bright spark would abuse the system and book premium awards 353 days out then try to sell them off or do name changes to other people rather than let the 'U' class seat drop back into inventory for people like us to snap up at short notice.

If they won't come to the party with the above scenario, do you have enough ff points to book a new J award on QF8 before the soon to be cancelled PE award points are recredited to your account? Even if you are primed and ready to pounce on the J award seat (the second you cancel he QF8 in J on person A's pnr), it may not necessarily be released back into the flight inventory as a 'U' class seat.

Do you have Expert Flyer so you can do a seat alert for QF8 in 'U' class for the date you want?

Expert flyer no U or I

HUACA x3 all same answer.

When inventory only shows J3 there is no way a U released back into inventory will resurrect as a U especially this close to the departure date. Most likely as soon as it went back into inventory it went to some high status revenue fare PE J upgrade request.

The agent said best is to do a upgrade request. Yeah right. Bronze FF using a classic reward PE 2 days out from a flagship premium route at peak travel time. No chance.

The 3 agents went higher but no chance.

This is an odd situation. Normally QF will book separately booked one way Classics into its own separate PNR. But in my case they added to an existing PNR - so 2 separate one way classic on separate dates.

It won’t happen again. Next time I’ll make sure they go into separate PNR.

Hi guys I was wondering can I change name on a classic reward flight? Flight is an classic reward economy with partner airline Qatar.

Thanks.

I am wondering what happens when someone change it s legal name, and get a new passport, before the travel date...

Cannot change names on already Qantas ticketed (081+++ ticket numbers) international flights

Does this apply to Classic Reward tickets as well? I'm being told you can't change the name on ANY international tickets (by off-shore call centre agents) but 14.7.4 (e) seems to indicate you can on QF flights.

14.7.4 Subject to this clause 14.7, the following changes are permitted to a Classic Flight Reward after ticketing and prior to commencement of any travel and will incur a Change Fee (see the Fee Schedule) per passenger:
(a) change to flight number;
(b) change to date of travel;
(c) change to class of travel;
(d) change to any Segment routing or airline;
(e) change to name (only for Flights with a Qantas (QF) flight number on the ticket that are operated by Qantas); and
(f) request to cancel ticket and re-credit Qantas Points. Please note that only Qantas Points that would not have expired will be re-credited.

Succesfully changed a name on an international classic flight reward a few times in the past 3 month. Needs to be a QF ticket, flight number and operated. Was pretty straight forward when dealing with AU call centre, don't bother with the offshore ones.

Thanks @WLGFlyer I shall persist with trying to connect with HBA.

ETA: Got through to HBA and no issue with changing the name on a QF-flight only international booking that several offshore agents told me could not be changed.
