Can I get a flight credit for a cancelled intl award instead of a refund?

Hi Guys,

Normally I'd want a refund back to my CC for a cancelled award flight, but the card I used to pay for these flights (Virgin Money) has long since been churned and I simply don't want to jump through the hoops of dealing with both Virgin Australia and then Virgin Money trying to get a refund cheque.

So I want to know if its possible to cancel an award (its all SQ flights BKK-SIN-MEL) and take a credit instead of refund back to credit card? I know I'll use the credit in the next 12 months so no issues there, just want to avoid the pain of dealing with Virign Money.

Cheers

Nope, only cash fares can be turned into a credit.

Thanks for that. Not the news I wanted to hear but sort of what I expected. Guess I'll just have to argue and wait either Virgin money for the refund cheque to arrive.

I discovered the hard way during COVID to never book travel on cards that I churn. It’s just not worth the hassle.

Yep, this is sage advice and advice I’ll be adhering too moving forward. If it was a regular bank or AMEX I wouldn’t mind so much, but being Virgin money (Citibank I think?) I know it will be painful
