I have MEL to Helsinki and return flights booked with a Bangkok stop over in each direction. The MEL to BKK sectors are with Malaysia Airlines while the other sector is with Finnair. (these airlines have baggage transfer agreements). The booking is one ticket.

One of the Bangkok stopovers is 21 hours while the other is 35 hours. Can I request luggage to be checked all the way though so I don’t need to collect in Bangkok?

If the answer is yes, is this risky from a lost luggage perspective given the time the luggage would be at the airport ?

The 21 hour stopover should allow baggage to be checked right through but not the 35 hour one
Does BKK allow overnight luggage? 21hr is guaranteed an overnight and many airports don't allow overnighting.
