Can QF call centres combine two PNR's into one?

Has anyone been able to get a call centre to combine two bookings/PNR's into one? (for DSC reasons - so need to keep the "main" PNR)

The second booking is a classic reward on BA - obviously won't get DSC's or even SC's - but want it combined into the main PNR so as am protected in case QF1 arrives late into LHR.

I haven't booked any of it yet as I want to know what the options/capabilities are as the main booking is going to have to be done through the call centre as the multi-city can't handle it - throws the usual errors.

If the seats are available in the relevant fare buckets in the GDS, yes.

Call centre is saying they can't book a classic reward leg as part of a multi-city when it is using a flight credit voucher, and they can't book the sale fares when using a flight credit voucher either

You can use a CV for sale fares. But online, only simple one way / return bookings.

I had the same issue a couple of days ago. We have a trip to CGK so thought it would be optimum to book using an existing DSC PNR, for a classic points redemption there and paid fare back.

Person on the other end of the phone said its not possible, no matter how much I insisted. In the end we just did it through the website, no DSC but can now save that PNR for other trips.

They make life difficult don't they! I couldn't use the option that you took as my QFF anniversary is 30th April, and this trip is Tassie to LHR on QF then on Bologna on BA - and the DSC's will help me attain WP for the first time. Unfortunately the BA flight from LHR to BLQ is 1:50 after QF1 lands - and the next flight isn't for another 6 hours so I didn't want to just book that.

In the end after about 2 hours on the phone the "best" solution offered was to book the outbound leg as a Saver instead of Sale and pay for the LHR-BLQ leg rather than take it as a classic award (which was available). Was a fair bit more expensive to do it this way, but at least I am protected if QF1 arrives late at LHR

You are basically trying to get the airline to take on extra risk (of missed connections) for free.
Can't see any airline doing this.

Yep - and you can't book a multi-city on the website using an existing PNR/voucher - aaargh!

That is the major limitation of CVs. But at least you can turn a one way into a return trip. I’m flying home on one now.

Could this be because of the booking class (X/U) not available to sell via the system that QF uses? My TA used to say that they are unable to sell X/U fares and refer me to talk to QF to release/purchase.

QF to QF is always protected even on unlinked seperate bookings. It’s in the T&Cs.

Linking reservations doesn’t do much. I don’t bother.

That's correct. The half award half commercial combinations are implemented with quite a hacky method which is why they are website only. The contact centre systems would require some substantial changes to make it possible.

Linking two PNRs where the flights are A->B and B->C does absolutely nothing. They don't even show up in departure control automatically.

For this reason, this is a complete waste of time to bother doing. For those who say it gives peace of mind... you're putting yourself in a false sense of security.

Linking two or more PNRs where it's two or more pax travelling together on the same flight(s), for the entire journey, even if in different cabins, does work the way it should.

Linking two or more PNRs where you are travelling together on one common flight but you have different destinations eg. two pax going on QF11 to LAX, but then one is going onto AA to JFK and one is going onto AA to SFO, is also useless. The departure control system ignores the link because of the fact you don't have the same destination.
