Can you check status run for errors?

First, thanks to Serfty and all for the status run help page.
I have just got word I am off to USA. I need to be in SEA Sat 18 May- Wed 22 May.
I am planning my first status run and need about 400 points to requalify gold.

Plan at present
wed 15 may AKL-BNB QF124
BNB-LAX QF 15 ARRIVE 6.40am
then LAX-DFW (AA2428) DEPTS 8am , DFW-MIA, MIA-AUA ARRIVE 9.40pm

Fri 17 May AUA-MIA (AA1036) DEPTS 8.40am MIA-DFW, DFW-LAX ARRIVE 6.05PM
then LAX-SEA ( AA6784) depts 7.30 pm

Does this sound achievable or too much? I calculate LAX-AUA to be 540 SC at usd$1050. Is there a better run out there. I could also do run from SEA, but I cant see anything thats cost effective. Or I could do run on Thur 23 May and home from LAX Sat 25.

Final query. Trip back to Aus down the back in Y departing LAX 23 May. I could come back via BNB or SYD, and have the choice of 747 or 380. Any recommendations based on load or seat quality?

You can get QF SC if you fly Alaskan on an AA code - note that you are also able to get SC if you fly Alaskan on a QF code.

Just an observation with the connection times in LAX. QF15 arrives at TBIT and is due in at 6.40am. It runs 16 minutes late on average, according to EF. The AA flight departs at 8.00am.

At LAX, you will need to go through immigration control on arrival, collect your bags, redeposit bags and also change terminals.

Even if QF15 is on time into LAX, you have the following to contend with:

• (Check bags through to AUA at AKL, if transiting at BNE)
• Fly to LAX
• Queue up
• Disembark Aircraft
• Walk through the dungeon like corridors to TBIT immigration
• Queue up
• Be processed by Immigration
• Queue up
• Collect bags
• Queue up
• Proceed through customs processing
• Head up ramp, look for signs for baggage "re-deposit"
• Queue up
• Re-deposit bags at the bag drop area
• Exit TBIT
• Walk to T4 along sidewalk (adjacent terminal)
• Enter T4
• Queue up
• Head through Security
• Proceed to gate
• Await ongoing flight ...
• Queue up
• Board flight

Maybe that connection is possible, but probably not. And do you want the stress levels that go with such a tight connection?

If it was me, I would allow a minimum of 2-plus hours.

I second the thoughts above. Having made the journey from TBIT to T4 a number of times, I don't believe 80 minutes (best case scenario) is achieveable. As it will be morning rush hour, just getting into T4 and through security will likely take 30-45 minutes.

I personally would allow:
20mins from landing to reach immigration
20min at immigration
20min to collect your bags
10min to drop them off
5min walk between TBIT and T4 if you know where you're headed
30min to collect new BP if necessary and clear TSA security (make sure you go up the priority AAccess escalator at the far end of T4 check-in hall compared to where you will first enter T4. This line is always shorter for clearing security).
5min to repack after TSA security! (shoes, belt, laptop, jacket, liquids&gels etc etc etc)
5min to get to gate before boarding.

So pretty much two hours as DC3 notes above. That is what I'd call best case.

Can you start the run on a later flight? If so, head up to the AC whilst waiting for the next flight and have a shower and your whole world will feel better!

MCT @ LAX, QF to AA is 2 hours - and that's on the one booking.

With 80 minutes on separate bookings, I would not even try.

Thanks all. Re- checked with Qantas & y flights on Alaskan do not get SC. I have taken advice on timing & will do run LAX AUA on the way home. End up back in LAX 18.30 for late flight home. Bit nervous as I booked AA segment first the work started making noises about trip. 2 days of nerves but now all booked.

Just be aware that even though the cabin travelled in is F or J, the KUPP/YUPP fares have a change fee of USD150.00 per transaction as they are still essentially an instant upgrade economy airfare. These seems to be in line with what most US carriers charge as change fees.

I just did HNL-DFW-MIA-AUA and had a blast. Very friendly AA crew being up front and always wanting to chat once they heard the accent.

How long are you staying in AUA and where?

Unless things have changed since June 2012, you are being given wrong or misleading info about this. I got QF SCs on an AS flight with QF flight number in Y last June.

You can't get a QF flight number on every AS flight though. Only selected AS flights. I had to fly on a red eye to get SCs.

I keep hoping for SC on Alaska Airlines flight but when I flew last year ( LAX-SEA on QF numbered Y flight) I didnt. I rang QF last year and they said they only gave SC on F for Alaskan. I rang again last month to ask if I would get SC on QF numbered Y flight and they again said no. I suppose an option would have been to fly QF to LAX then book an AA flight on Alaskan metal, but it would have cost more and work accountants would have queried it.
So I am not counting on these SC, but it will be a nice surprise if I get them.

Last Tuesday I flew SEA-LAX on AS metal with an AA flight number in what I worked out to be an earning class fare and received no QF SC's.

Side point it was on a new 737-900, very nice even tho the flight was full

Yep, looks like things have changed since last June. QF T&Cs now state -

When flying on eligible Alaska Airlines fares and flights with an AS flight number, you can:

• earn points, and
• earn a Cabin bonus.

No longer mentions SCs. Disappointing.

But seriously, on the QF website I had the choice of a QF codeshare, AA codeshare or AS number on an Alaskan flight (all the same price, btw) and chose the QF for the SC's as it gets me to a very auspicious total. Will be kicking some serious keyster if it doesn't post and so should the OP.

when I rang QF to check, they said Y will not earn SC, but F would. I assume if I booked the same flight as AA number I could have claimed SC.

Part of the problem is you quoted something relevant to jetstar not Alaskan. I have to check the earning table to see what is relevant to your situation. However digging into my memory banks you should have taken the AA code. IIRC.

The flights are later next month.

All I'm saying is that when you book a QF code you get the QF points and SC's regardless of the metal.. unless it is operated by Jetstar etc etc. So even when you fly on Asiana or Air France metal with a QF code you still get the rewards and even a Mr. Squiggle and those airlines don't even show up on the earning table.
I think whomever the op spoke to (or the op) got confused with status credits, status bonuses and cabin bonuses, which to be fair, is not hard to do.
