I was wondering if border security willl let me take a 500ml can of monster on my flight from sydney to brisbane tommorow, anyone got experience?

There's no border security for domestic flights. No issues taking bulk liquid on domestic flights either. I've taken many bottles of wine without issue. Opening the wine mid-flight would be a no-no.

Can't bring tins of solvent / paint over a certain size as my brother in law found a few years ago on a Tiger flight. The cost of checking luggage was more than the original one-way fare.

On the topic of flying with energy drinks, I was surprised to see Red Bull cans in the AA DFW flagship lounge the other day. I made myself a couple of Red Bull & Vodkas before getting on QF8.

Red Bull 🐂 has been in AA lounges for years. I've used my WP free drink tickets to pick up cans as required.

Yeah I’m talking about self service, I don’t recall seeing them in the flagship lounge before - but I could be wrong

Those drink vouchers (not WP, SG got them too) are long gone.
