Can you take a can of soft drink on a plane?

And you can also take a can of soft drink onto an international flight departing Australia, so long as you obtain it (purchase or snaffle from a lounge) after passing through security screening.

I drank the highest monster at 37,000 feet. Tasted good.

cans of coke from a lounge don't cost quite that much ;). I have not taken coke from lounge to aircraft, but I did once take a can of mineral water when I was flying in Y and expected it might come in handy to ensure I remained hydrated,

I dunno, seems like a reasonable price for a full 375mL can of cocaine?
mmm i had another flight which meant immigration and security again, they swabbed me so.... maybe i'll pass this time

So would there be an issue taking a six pack of cascade draft cans in carry on from HBA-MEL-CBR? Or should I put it in checked bag?
Unless you're planning to drink it on your flight... which I hope you arent, safer to put it in checked but there should be no issue, except weight.

Just open the cans over a metal colander, or a plastic one, or over a cup larger than the can.
Edit: and this is if the item hasnt "disappeared/not appeared at CBR airport bag reclaim"... grin, I wouldnt take it, but you know, items down there can go walkies, seeing the way baggage handler treat other peoples property.
Aerated drinks once they have been shaken, you know what happens, you pop the top, and whoosh, they go everwhere.

Absolutely right @G.Y, no issues from security or with carry-on weight so I can report a successful outcome. As insurance, I threw a sixer of Cassie Blues in checked baggage, which also arrived unscathed.

It'd just be easier if they shipped the local stuff (made with "the good water") to the mainland. Then I wouldn't have to feel like a low grade prohibition buster. Maybe they'd get a test more often if they played nicer?

Hey there!
Unfortunately, you won't be able to take a 500ml can of Monster through security as liquids over 100ml are not allowed in your carry-on. But don't worry, you can always buy a drink after you pass through security or once you're on the plane.
Have a great flight from Sydney to Brisbane!
Clearly you are not familiar with Australian domestic travel. So to ensure accurate information is shared here, Sydney to Brisbane is a domestic flight where liquid limits do not apply. No problem at all carrying any amount of liquid through security at a domestic terminal in Australia. The airline may have an issue if you are carrying more than the nominated weight onto the aircraft, but security screening does not enforce carry on weight limits (that is for the airline to enforce at the boarding gate). So carrying a 6-pack of cans of energy drinks will not be an issue as far as security screening is concerned.
