Hi all, I’m just back from an extended (but unexpected) period of travel for work. Unfortunately as I had no part in arranging the trip
there isn’t much to include in a trip report!

Thanks to MattG for picking up the baton. I had researched the bus option and could get an approx $70 rate per pax for 10+ people but hadn’t locked anything down because dates and numbers were uncertain. This rate included a single pick-up/drop-off point in Canberra.

To my mind this was an ok deal but still fairly steep. More pax would lower the rate but therein lies the problem - I doubt more AFFers would join the tour at this price and its risky to offer $40 when it could double if we don’t get enough takers.

Anyway, I’m back and can look at it again - does anyone know a good way to get a firm number of AFF attendees & date that suits most?

I can't do April 14th (in Sydney for Opera) or April 28th (will be in Adelaide for the Barossa Tour – yes, technically the next day but flights are already booked).

Well based on the response so far, it looks like this is unlikely to go ahead.

Perhaps if there are still a small group of us that are interested, we could just take a car? I could even volunteer to be the driver for the day (I may regret saying that!).

It's been a bit like herding cats...despire that yours and others' efforts have been appreciated all the same.

I'd be interested in taking part in a smaller group if I'm sans l'enfants.

To be honest, I hadnt seen a notification that I'd been tagged in this thread.

Yes it’s a challenge to find a date that suits most in a group of frequent flyers. We have similar issues trying to organise another BNE wine dinner.

Best is to set a date that suits enough ppl for small car and if more would be able to join try and hire van or mini bus (depends on the numbers).

If we had one other designated driver, we could have room for 10 people over 2 cars. I think that's probably realistic but we would need one more volunteer to drive. The benefit of this method is of course that there will be no (or minimal) cost for transport.

So far April 7 has the most votes... that would work for me.

I have been holding off organising a CBR evening get together, but now that as it seems the winery date is progressing, I'll start an invitation new thread for Wed 6pm, 18 April at the Kingston Pub Hotel (which now has a Heritage listing proposal :)).

Separately on that note, I was talking to Lindsay and thought the Tibetan Kitchen looked like an interesting venue... certainly bringing down the price to a slightly more respectable level.

This event looks dire with a current-4 way tie.

I don’t think the venue is an issue, at least no one indicated that on the thread. The problem is getting enough ppl to agree on a date.

For me at least, the venue is not important as it’s all about the company and vino.

OK , some new dates ... New poll as well - Closes 28th April

Still very interested if the dates work. Probably the 2 of us plus one daughter

The 2nd and 9th are both out for me, could probably do 16th and 23rd.
