TLDR: if I cancel a SQ reward seat, will the reward seat be available for redemption immediately again? Tip: You can call VA to check reward seats for airports not shown on the website. In my case it's a new SQ route in November.

Hi all, I need some advice. I've already booked ADL - SIN via reward seat redemption.

I want to change my flights to ADL - SIN(layover) - PKX (Beijing).

I was told by the VA agent that I can't simply change the final destination from SIN to PKX without cancelling my existing reward seats ADL-SIN.

I have confirmed with Virgin that the SIN - PKX is available in the same class of flight (business). My concern is if I was to cancel my already booked flight ADL-SIN, that it won't immediately show up on the system for redemption again. Ideally I would prefer to change my existing booking final destination rather than having to cancel it.

Does anyone know if a SQ reward seat is cancelled will the reward seat be available for redemption immediately again?

Worse case scenario I have to book SIN - PKX seperately and contact SQ to link them. But booking the flights seperately will mean 20k extra points per person
🙁

i don't have an answer for you sorry but do you know if it SQ allowed waitlisting (direct with SQ) when the rewards fairs were exhausted? I'd have thought they would get preference first before it re-listed.

A cancelled seat is never guaranteed to go back into award inventory. As n0mad points out, there’s a waitlaist which might mean you never see your cancelled seat again!

Imstead of just searching SIN-PKX, you should be looking at ADL-PKX. If there’s availability for the entire route, you can safely cancel and rebook. Otherwise you could also end up with married segments so that even if your SIN-AFL comes back, it might not be bookable with the SIN-PKX.
