Cancellation Request Help

I have had to cancel a booking for the end of November due to health issues. I did this successfully on line HOWEVER I asked for a refund not a credit. On checking the fare conditions I am only allowed a credit. That is OK, BUT having requested a refund which I can't get, will the system automatically issue a credit or will they think I've just donated $1500 to Joyce's retirement fund. And YES. I know I should have checked the fare conditions first.

Thanks for any assistance.

With a medical illness, you can check with a Credit Card (if used) like AMEX Platinum. Insurance to cover any loss(did you take out any insurance?). Also, write an email to Qantas and ask for a credit instead, according to the fine print. (use the feedback - Qantas feedback Page). It is horrible when this occurs because, at a time when you need peace and quiet, this upsets the cart. You can call them on 131313.
