[Cancelled] SIN lounge crawl 25 September 2021

Quite correct.

There are no Aust-wide holidays in the second half of the year until Xmas. So as I am in Victoria, the Victorian holiday it is. :)

June is definitely out as you can't even book a flight with QF then. In the interests of prudence I have set it is late as is practical. And no matter what date I had chosen I would never have pleased everyone. *sigh*
Thanks for organising. I’m looking forward to it no matter the date if it happens 🙏😀

Darn :( I was hoping to go to the 2020 (on double status ) unfortunately I can't attend
Perhaps 2022 (I need to get to one of these events )

would you consider moving the crawl to the Sunday, the usual day - so it's a meet on the way out/back h

Just because I know @JessicaTam will enjoy reading everyone's personal preferences 😜 I would prefer Saturday, because either way I am going to have to take a day off and I would prefer that to be Friday rather than Monday.

But there's a lot of covid water that needs to go under bridges between now and September before I can commit to going. I would love to be able to though.

How will a group doing a lounge crawl and social distancing work? I don't think the latter is going away anytime soon.

I think everyone is pleased that you have again stepped up to organise; thankyou. I was kidding with the June suggestion, and I should have put a :) there.

But as we've established that many, possibly most attendees won't have a public holiday on Friday for travel, would you consider moving the crawl to the Sunday, the usual day - so it's a meet on the way out/back home, after a day and a bit in Singapore?
I'm glad you clarified that. I thought you were suggesting that we have the Lounge Crawl in Hobart in June. That wouldn't have taken long at all 😉

Not sure if we can make it, but MrsK does like Singapore. Put us down as Silver at the moment

Just be careful booking CX as their lounge is in terminal 4, and access to terminals 1, 2, 3 where the rest of the lounges are might be tricky.

I've done this before without any issues. Checked in at T4, then went airside and took the bus over to T2 (now T3), and tried out the Qantas First Lounge. That said, there could be issues with turning up too early, as would be the case here. Having said all that, Cathay is currently operating out of T1 anyway.

I'm planning to make it to this event, travel restrictions permitting, of course. I won't be coming from Australia, but guessing there won't be much of an event if Australia is still restricting outbound travel then.

Fly up when-ever suits you. Someone may organise a dinner in Singapore on Friday night.

Book a OneWorld flight leaving SIN Saturday evening. Ideally after about 8pm to give enough time to wander between the terminals.

QF flies directly to SIN and it is the same time zone. We usually use Scoot to SIN, but won’t on this occasion of course. The return flight departs 18:40 and there’s only one flight daily. Fingers crossed we will be able to do this. 🤞

I would be doubtful for this but just noting that unless things have changed you need to be flying F or J to access the (rather nice judging from my fairly brief visit) QR lounge, regardless of OW status (at least on other OW airlines, unsure about QR status).

Here’s a thought how about a hop around Oz through a few domestic lounges 😲. At least there’s a reason to take a flight and surely internal borders should open once vaccination is assumed to be far advance? How many Oz airport lounges can you visit in one weekend?

It's an interesting concept, should SIN still be unavailable by September. There are some decent lounges in Australia (I'm thinking of lounges like the QF J lounges in MEL, BNE or CBR for example). Not sure if RSA would be (any more) of an issue if hopping between domestic lounges, though?

We could even finish up in PER, to allow the attendees from the east coast to "enjoy" an authentic Qantas red-eye flight experience at the end of the weekend.

Just my 2 cents worth @LinaLee and @Mattg, from what I have read @JessicaTam originally set the crawl up as an impromptu asian lounge invite which has since turned into the 'crawl'. I think I have read requests to start the crawl from the US or the UK however Jess has stuck to her guns and kept the "formal event to the Asian lounge". Again and only my 2 cents worth a crawl around AU is not worth the cost $$ or points that yields no real return. If the SIN Sep 21 does not happen, bring on 2022.

I will just put it out there informal travel JP-HK-MY-SG with the main event being SIN (delayed 2020) may be on the cards "what could possibly go wrong".

MEL(home)-CBR-SYD-BNE-PER-MEL a lap of all J lounges. Could be done in two days with a sleepover in PER. BUT, BUT, BUT @ $5,800 + 280SC in J. Unless there’s a Qantas Quintuple Status Credits Offer…even that would only get me to Gold. As @Matt_01 said “If the SIN Sep 21 does not happen, bring on 2022.”

Interested ...

Many caveats as already expressed by others though. I'll hang on to my $$$ for the time being.

FWIW, CUP "weekend" is just after/on the start of my new Qantas "year" and I often travel then. This year I get to roll over up to 400 SC's.
Current Scheduled AFL grand final day - even though a long weekend in Vic, so would have been a scratching ...

Cup Weekend?

And I just need to book a flight to somewhere 😁.... before end Sept...preferable cheapest I can find and that I can actually travel to 😉

I too am holding out for KL to settle personal stuff and a stopover in SG would be fab.

Our NZ trip has gone south so watching this just in case QF start flying before October. I did a quick search on the QF site and the reward offering from OW partners is not that flash.
