[Cancelled] SIN lounge crawl 7 June 2020

At this stage I am still planning on going to SIN for the crawl. Even without a QF F lounge. I am booked on BA and QR so haven't been affected by any of the flight changes (yet!).

I completely understand if attendees are having second thoughts, or if plans are changed outside your control.

But of course next week/month things could change again.
So am I, I hear the QR lounge is better than the QF F. Also I am pretty sure that if SQ cancelled my flight I would be re-accommodated. Even if the aircraft on the way back is swapped to the 330 or 787 @Hvr will be better off as he may no longer have to sit next to me, see Post 12 ;)

I am still planning to go, and my flight has not been cancelled yet, but who knows what will happen between now and June.

Only just found these threads. Amazing.

I have a potential trip to SIN the following week in June, depending on my travel requirements the week before I'll see if I can join in.

Watching closely - I'm booked on QF37 Friday evening and suspect they'll try to put me on QF35 - which does not work for me that day. When the changes come through I'm going to try to get put onto EK departing MEL 2am Saturday morning.

I’m pretty sure I’m either a ship in the night depart MEL 6 June EK onto Stockholm - well pending what’s going on and how well the current isolation measures go.....

I am at risk of dropping out this year, my European holiday might be on hold, just waiting a few weeks for the final decision. I also had two mini-crawls last-and-this week and feel like I got my fill. In the case of the QF F, EK and QR lounges, I was the only guest in them at certain stages. With the possibility that the QF F lounge will still be closed at that time, I think everyone will have more fun in Jewel, I know I certainly did before visiting all the lounges.

May affect some

Well, currently getting home from France, tomorrow - my decision to bail on SIN and go via DOH so far was the right one!!

I'm surprised they are also stopping transits, but the nature of Changi makes it necessary, I suppose.

I would say probability, given the cutback announced by Qantas are 'until September'.

I visited it twice last weekend (Saturday, Monday evenings) (could have been three times but I changed a starter MAX booking to BKK to another day).

The lounge really more of a restaurant occupying ¾ of the area with an ante-room (of course, better than the Business lounge).

Anyway, it is 12 weeks away and much can change between now and then.

I heard someone else complaining about that as well to lounge staff, and it seems an odd thing to complain about. Over the years the SYD F dining space has grown as well. It's a big part of the lounge, dining, and it was what SIN was missing for premium pax. I think it's great forward thinking to have such a large dining space. Travellers can go elsewhere to relax, plenty of lounges and things to do/see.

The physical design/layout/pannelling/furnishing to me indicates that the area (and maybe that adjacent) closest to the open kitchen was originally planned for the formal seated dining. Setting up three of the four sections for such seems to have been a redesign.

Well, it is Changi :).

FWIW, on Monday I went off afterwards to the EK lounge and consumed some decent filet steak ... it was a good walk there and back ... :)

Yes I got to QF F as it opened, had my 3-course meal and then went off to PP, EK and then QR as it opened. On my way back I stopped in at BA and QF J, before finishing in QF F for some S&P squid :p

Things not looking good right now.

I was trying to book QF35/QF36 on 26 February for double SCs but QF website had meltdown. I've not booked anything since but suspect QF is going to cancel most flights to/from SIN which does not leave many options. I could still book now and wait and see what happens.

My biggest concern is self isolating for 14 days if that directive continues. That would not be a desired outcome.

Although I am still planning on going however like yourself I am also concerned about this 14 day isolation thing. It may be the tipping point but will work that out closer to the time.

With the announcement today of Qantas cutting 90% capacity till end of May I suspect many airlines will also follow. My ten cents wrt the 14 day isolation thing, it will likely be increased to 21 days as we get on top of the new virus. Also expect significant further disruption to travel, wining and dining etc. Data modeling here, for what it is worth is talking peak viral infection numbers to be in July.....peak so will go for most of this year. With the self isolation thing also continuing for a similar number of months, I really do hope i am proved wrong, but will gladly be happy to be wrong on this fact.

The lounge crawl in SIN is very much up in the air (pun intended). Things are not looking good right now, so I would suggest make sure you have a back up plan for any bookings. At the moment I am flying SYD-SIN with BA a few weeks before, and with QR back to SIN from EU. If it just gets too hard, I will be cancelling.

If the lounge crawl doesn't happen, well, so what!
