There is such a thing as "security measures" being rather excessive!

I tell them "you are calling me, you know who I am but I don't have any proof of who you are - tell me my mothers maiden name, my pin number and the last transaction on the card"...

this quickly turns the tables and usually ends up in me calling them back on a number I feel comfortable calling.

I had my card replaced in June as well, right AFTER 1 month of using it in Vietnam, China, Hong Kong and Macau. They rang my home number and asked for me by my name, and wanted to confirm with me the last few transactions recorded were ok, so he read out a list of transactions and wanted me to confirm them by telling him how much it was. Lucky I remember the amount. I did ask him what had happened to my account for them to think my card been compromised, and he mention something about a company that tried to charge $1 to my card and followed up with a large sum.
