Card Services Qantas Rewards Gold Card

I came across this card (seems to be offered by various credit unions) and run by Citibank.

It costs $118 with a 60K point cap on the gold card. Has the usual travel insurance with a $1=1 point earn rate.

Seems to be nearly the last mastercard out there that earns at a 1:1 rate.

Looks like a useful card to use when you can't pay with AmEx.

Do they have a full T&C? E.g. I could not find anything about the points cap... Also, what is the transfer rate to Singapore?

For Velocity you get 1 vel point for each $1.50 spend -

For krisflyer the rate is also 1 point for $1.50 spend

The redemption of Points for Kris Flyer Miles is only available to Gold Cardholders on the Card Services ‘Rewards’ program.. Points are redeemed at 1.5 Card Services ‘Reward’ points for 1 KrisFlyer point.

If you want to use the card for velocity or krisflyer then it only costs $80 a year.

I have this card. It's pretty good as far as I can tell. Just enrolled it in the QFF so I'll be using it for quite a while. I'd say the t&c's would be very similar to Citibank Gold.

the take flight option seems not too bad a deal if you were getting a sale fare

if you think that a return flight on QF for most of asia is 60K + taxes

those 60K of points will get u $361 off your fare. Emirates has had some cheap $700 fares lately inc taxes

At least it avoids the prob of not being able to use your points during peak periods, and the free travel insurance will at least cover you.

Is there any difference between this card and Citi Gold? They look pretty much the same...

I am considering it as a replacement for Earth MC as the QFF earn rate is 1:1, while EarthMC gets only 0.5 points. Seems to be worth it in my case.

the standard citi gold card will not have a QFF option from April 1. You will need a CitiBuisiness gold or Platinum card.

This cardservices does seem to be the ideal replacement for the mere mortals who wont break the 60K a year the card "limits" you to.

Bummer, did not realise that. Would be interesting to know why they limited QFF to Platinum only, but anyway. This card has got its niche now.

i'm wondering about why citibank have decided to not allow QFF points to be earned on the gold card too.

the only reason i can think is that they are looking to reduce their exposure to the credit card market in australia, or hedge against a rise in bad debts by getting gold card customers to upgrade to the platinum card.

i moved to the citibusiness card as it still alows QFF points to be earned. it also lets u get points athtte rate of 1.25 per $ spent. i asked to be moved last tues and received my new card on friday. the good thing is they leave you're old card active and allow you to move all you direct debits etc over and then cancel your gold card. any transactions on the gold card dont earn points tho.

They also make more money from the higher merchant fees of platinum card transactions.
