Hello all,
I am flying MEL-SYD (VA domestic economy, SYD-AUH (VA PE) and AUH-LHR (Etihad economy). All one itinerary. I understand the checked limits (VA PE 32kg) and checking it through. I need clarification as to whether the VA PE carry on limit also applies to the domestic and Etihad sectors.
Thank you for the help!

A belated welcome to AFF Louie40.

Sorry I can't help with your question but perhaps someone who knows can post the answer.

I would go by the lowest common limit, which would be 1 bag up to 7kg.
Typically it's the allowance on the first leg (as you have to get on the a/c with that). If you happen to go up a class mid-travel, that's not help.

I have the same problem when I travel Virgin America to Virgin Australia. I am entitled to 3 x 32kg bags on Virgin Australia, and often need that. I am entitled to 1 50lb back on Virgin America (Main Cabin Select) and whilst it's all on the same ticket, they make me pay for the other 2 bags (and I have to keep them at 50lbs).

Thanks all. I have been lurking here for a while, and it was the only question I couldn't find an answer to. I ended up contacting VA, who said it depended on the AC being used for the domestic leg. On an Embraer E90 so the limit is 105cm.

Not just Main Cabin Select with regard to Virgin America to Virgin Aust. .....even in First its only 2 bags with a Max weight of 50lbs each. Each additional bag, again limited to 50lbs, is $25USD each. They will often over look a little over the 50lbs at JFK but out of Dulles (D.C.) I have yet to get any wiggle room at all.

Not hard to rack up 50lbs on a longer stay with heavy boots / paper work / manuals / plus a bit of electronics and camera gear all in the mix.
