Cashrewards should be renamed Norewards

What a load of BS, having status should not prevent you getting cash back.

My Hilton claim tracked with $0 credit and it took a few emails but I did eventually get my cash back.

More to the point, it hasn't been an issue for the previous dozen claims. Feels like they've just been caught out in a lie really.

Latest update from CR

Please understand that Hilton Hotels has strictly declined your transaction for cashback. Cashrewards has not and will not receive any commission on you purchase and we therefore do not have funds to pass on to you in the form of cashback. Your transaction has alluded a number of reasons for decline, we are simply unable to approve this transaction.

To which I suggested they go back and challenge Hilton based on everything I've said which only yielded another useless response

Hilton Hotels is currently no longer partnered with Cashrewards so we cannot further query these rewards. I would like to note that when partnered with Hilton Hotels, our team queried your cashback several times with a declined outcome each time.

So basically they couldn't care less about customers who have been wronged. I don't believe that they queried it several times and intend to request evidence of this. I also don't believe that they can no longer challenged just because they are no longer partnered.

Same boat as your Daver6. All my transactions from Hilton were declined because I used the Hilton's Honours Discount rate, 4 stays at different international properties during October.
With Hilton now removed from CR, can no longer check their Terms.

Well I received this unexpected response this morning

Hilton Hotels simply has not and will not honour your purchase, which is a circumstance far from ideal for Cashrewards. I really don't want this experience to leave a sour taste and you are a valued member of Cashrewards. I don't want the decline of your cashback to affect your decision to shop with us for future purchases.

I have reached out to my superiors and we have elected to honour your expected cashback for your declined purchases out of pocket. You will be able to withdraw this cashback at your convenience.

Not quite sure what to make of this. Good outcome that I'll be receiving the money I'm entitled to. However, I really had to fight for it and I'm not really sure how I feel if this is sufficient to keep me as a customer.

@benjy it would seem that it might be worth your while fighting it.

That's handy information. What kind of fighting words did you make?
I don't have a copy of the terms so find it difficult to kind of keep fighting for my rewards

I basically called it out as rubbish. They kept coming back to me with reasons that changed. I pretty much said I don't care if the contract with Hilton has ended, I expect them to take it up with Hilton and get what's owing to me. That the reasons given made no sense when another claim for two days prior at the same hotel with the same booking type was paid and that all previous claims in the past were booked with my HH number and never been an issue. I just kept pestering for an explanation. Just keep responding and don't accept the outcome until it is acceptable to you.

Thanks. I responded to all my claims asking for a copy of the terms and conditions with Hilton. I see how I go

It's irrelevant that Hilton is now no longer a Cashrewards partner. They were in a partnership agreement when the cashback transaction was entered into by you (the client). Keep fighting and be prepared to use social media channels to ensure your disagreement is widely publicised. I called BS and kept pushing as well. It all depends on what is the $ refund and how much you value your time.

I received a copy of the T&Cs :

The special terms and conditions of Hilton Hotels were: Use of any coupons and/or incentive offers/links (including Amex/Mastercard/Visa discounts) will invalidate any cashback and/or any cashback claims, including our cashback guarantee, unless specifically listed on this site. Rewards are not payable on the following rate types: negotiated corporate rates; negotiated group rates, including blocks of rooms, meeting group rates, convention group rates, leisure group rates; government rates; HHonors (Hilton Worldwide loyalty program) redemption bookings; employee or industry rate (Travel agent rates, airline rates etc); promotional rates in conjunction with Hilton partners or certain corporate marketing offers.

CR claimed that I payed the Hilton Honors Discount rate which made my claim ineligible. Only mention of HHonors in the terms is redemption bookings, which my bookings weren't.

Only one of my bookings was a points redemption booking, and funny enough, it's the only transaction on CR that is showing an expected cashback, yet to receive. I won't pursue that particular booking. All others I'll keep trying.

They really are full of it. Just keep at it and don't give up. Keep pointing out the flaws in their arguments and insist they raise the issue with Hilton on your behalf.

Any CEO who says “serial entrepreneur” on their LinkedIn Page is a person to whom I give a wide berth...

Update:
After in intense investigation of your transactions alongside Hilton Hotels I have found that three of the four declined purchases are commissionable and your CASHREWARDS account has been updated to reflect these changes. As Hilton Hotels tracks in USD, sometimes on validation values may change due to conversion rates or amendments made to bookings. The sale values appear slightly differently, rest assured you have receive the correct cashback amounts.

One of the declined transactions was marked as declined as it was an incorrectly duplicated purchase. I apologise for any confusion regarding this technical hiccup. The duplicated transaction is declined as you are not eligible for a 'double up' on cashback.

Cashback available to withdraw with expected amounts. Satisfied with outcome. Cases closed

Great outcome. Pity they destroy all goodwill in getting to this stage.

Agreed @Daver6, same in my instance as well. I really must get around to unsubscribing from their email missives, but I enjoy the power of deleting them, knowing they are getting nothing more from me. I'd rather give the profit back to the supplier, not the middle man.

I agree..cashrewards is hopeless when dealing with rejected claims.

When they track fine, they're fine.

But get rejections involved and they're as sly as a used car sale man

I didn't shop with Hilton but had one rejected after 6months with a blatant, we didnt get the money so you wont

If a company makes a a promise of a cashback, regardless of whether they get it or not they should honorit as its thats their professional obligation

And to use different excuses each time means I will never trust them and actively avoid them

I used to spend time chasing and just don't bother now. If the cash comes in I just treat it as a nice bonus. I find that it's far less stressful that way.

Normally i don't bother either

But the problems I had with cashrewards was $1200 So definitely worth it for me to chase up

And I've just found out recently that pricepal seems to have gone belly up

I had about $300 outstanding so not happy jan

I abandoned them when they were MonetyBackCo, and never used them when they were StartHere.

Something about businesses that keep changing names....

Have been a member for about 3 yrs.
Didn't know they changed names.

Just called the ombusmand. Apparently they're not covered by them.

What a pity

I feel liberated at not having to use their system to order my goods and no chasing up necessary. Would hate to think how much they've missed out on since I left. Not about to start worrying, it's their problem ;) .
