Few hints here, and he mentioned SEA in general then pointed out HKG.

Might be an A321Neo route?

Mr Barker also hinted at future announcements regarding Hong Kong and the Pacific Islands.

“There is an obvious gap in the map in Hong Kong and we are confident about an announcement,” he said.

While I miss that CX flight as it was good for OW J redemptions, we flew SQ203 last week SIN - CNS and it was a brilliant 6 hour daytime flight in Y. VA Gold got us SQ lounge access and priority check-in. Flight itself had yummy food, free flowing wines, I watched Dune 2 for half the flight. No complaints!

I have balked at Y on the 737-8 on that route previously but the A359 was great. I noted our fares seemed quite cheap, perhaps they are struggling to fill the larger bird? I'd say it was maybe 80% full in Y and the smaller J cabin I walked through was full. A one-way Y ticket from SUB (also an A359) was ~$400 and we included a 2-day stopover in Singapore. Hmm - I didn't check the direct fare from SIN so maybe it was cheaper out of SUB eg. hidden city. Our relatives flying CGK - SIN - BNE an hour or so later on SQ245 paid a fair bit more than we did. Although I did find it amusing their short hop from CGK was on a massive 777 where the crew struggled to get the dinner service sorted in time and their meals were served after they were told to put their tray tables up :S.

Anyway, a CX return would still be excellent. I would also love to see UA bring back CNS - GUM but I can't see that happening.

Are there set funding periods for the AAIF, or is it indefinite funding?

Cathay returning to CNS is fantastic news, and while it’s unlikely I’d also like to see UA (re)launch CNS-GUM on their 73M’s and JQ launch CNS-LAX on their upgraded 787s.
