Email received today ... see below. Yes I have a booking in the system (HKG-PEK in December - I was probably going to change the date anyway)
Important information for Cathay Dragon passengers
Cathay Pacific has today announced a corporate restructuring in response to the continued impact of COVID-19 on the aviation market. A major element of the restructuring is that its subsidiary, Cathay Dragon (KA), is ceasing operations with effect from today.
We would like to assure all affected customers holding Cathay Pacific or Cathay Dragon tickets involving one or more Cathay Dragon flights that you will be looked after. Depending on where you are travelling, you will either receive a refund for any unused part of your ticket or be rebooked onto alternative Cathay Pacific (CX) flights. Please refer to the following for details.
Passengers travelling to/from Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei or Denpasar (Bali)
We will offer alternative travel arrangements on Cathay Pacific operated flights (Shanghai passengers travelling to/from both Pudong and Hongqiao airports will be rebooked onto Cathay Pacific’s Pudong flights). For passengers who have booked with us directly via cathaypacific.com or our call centre, you will receive a message from us within the next 7 days advising your new flight details.
If the alternative arrangements are not convenient, you can always choose to refund or swap any unused part of your ticket into Cathay Credits for future travel on Cathay Pacific.
For passengers who have booked with a travel agent, please approach your agent directly for assistance.
Passengers travelling to/from other Cathay Dragon destinations
For passengers who have booked with us directly via cathaypacific.com or our call centre, you will receive a message from us within the next 7 days advising how to proceed with the refund.
For passengers who have booked with a travel agent, please approach your agent directly and request a refund submission on your behalf.
Please be assured that all refund requests will be processed as soon as possible.
Passengers who hold a ticket issued by another airline which includes a flight operated by Cathay Dragon
Please contact the ticketing airline or your travel agent to make alternative arrangements.
Thank you for your past support to Cathay Dragon and please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused by this announcement to your travel plans.
I have an upcoming trip from HKG to KUL at the end of Nov. Cathay Dragon was the only airline flying that route direct. The next direct flight now is 14 Dec. Looks like I will be in hotel quarantine over Christmas. Unbelievable!
