I have a Marco Polo Gold membership card which I applied for through my Amex Platinum Charge card in January 2013 and is "Valid Thru Jan 2014". In mid January 2014 I'll be using a One World Award ticket, travelling with my Son, flying SYD-LAX-LIM-JFK-LHR-ZRH/LHR-SYD in J, and my wife has now decided to join us in NY, then to LHR-ZRH/LHR-SYD flying Y on a One World Award.
I haven't used the MPG card yet, but I gather that as an equivalent One World Sapphire card, it should give us access to lounges if we're on One World airlines - eg flying LAN around South America in Y with flights booked separately from the One World Award, and also when travelling with my wife from JFK-LHR, LHR-ZRH, ZRH-LHR on BA and LHR-SYD probably on QF (the date we need will not be available for another couple of weeks) when I'll have access with the J bookings and hopefully I can use the MPG card to take my wife as a guest since her ticket will be in Y.
Assuming I have the MPG card membership renewed for another year while I keep the Platinum card, how long before the expiry date do CX usually send out the new card? It expires at the end of January 2014 but we leave Sydney two weeks earlier, so I'm wondering if it is likely to arrive by then.
