Looks good, only thing I would like if CX got status bonus as well.

Thank you for this report.
I'm booked on a CX trip, and was wondering why there were 2 seats in the middle (D&G).

From my perspective, the main difference is the seating. Nice to see pics of the centre seats - that probably explains why the window seats are almost completely reserved, whilst the centre seats are all empty.
Although, last time I was window up near the back of J, I got rubbish service as SG (OWS), so I am rethinking taking a more forward seat in the centre.

Do you think there is a lack of privacy in the centre seats?

On my upcoming flights as a OWE I could only get centre seats... or seats right at the back of J...

Thanks for posting. Looks like a great improvement over their current J product.

The NGBC now has couple-friendly seats (ableit in the middle) which is a great improvement. Just looking at the photos, I am going to say these seats is likely to give the QF 388 J a run for their money.

Fantastic report dk4, thank you.

Do they supply a connection cable for iPhone / iPad?.

Did another J CNS/HKG/CNS in the old coffin seats, unfortunately its said the new J seats will not be installed on the old planes flying these sectors, pity.

Managed to now snag a window seat on my new J flight :)

How far back are you? I could only get 16K or 17A. Worst case, it still looks heaps more private than the QF J product!

In the end, I decided that 12D was going to be better, so hoping that dk4 comes back with more info about the centre seats and the "privacy flap", otherwise I'll try to put something together in a few weeks time. Mine's a day flight, so should be interesting to see if there is any privacy or disturbance with those screens together.

dk4 - I am also wondering about the ottoman. Did CX allow you to store a bag in the ottoman space during takeoff? Or was that purely non-seat belt time storage?

Sorry all, it took a while to get the trip report up yesterday, so didn't have a chance to get back again yesterday to see if there were any questions. (And thanks for all the nice comments.)

Privacy.

I found this configuration very private; when seated it felt like I was in my own private little world. Only two (minor) issues really –
1. I could see what the guy across the aisle was watching on the video system (but only if I turned my head that way) so still better than a whole row or forward facing seat monitors.
2. Anyone walking up the aisle from immediately behind could get a good view of any work laid out on the tray table, thanks to the seat angle.

Middle Seats.

I didn’t sit in one, so look forward to someone else commenting after they have. However, the seats seemed far enough back that the partition would provide some block-out from your seat mate, and the online seat guide also recommended leaving the headphone storage door open if you wanted additional privacy.

Ottoman Storage.

I had my computer bag under the ottoman for the entire flight (take-off & landing) without any issue, or being asked to move it.

The iPod connector.

I didn’t look for a cable, and there wasn’t one obviously provided. As for S-Video through the iPod plug, I don’t know the answer to that, one of the Apple-gurus might have to advise if that is possible.

Seat Selection.

Keep checking back via the CX website (I did, and eventually snagged the seat I was after - window, halfway back... so toilet traffic was minimised by those in front heading forward, and those behind heading aft), but I imagine that CX100/101 is a very popular flight at the moment.

iPhone/iPad only use the normal in connector and out to either USB, HDMI or RCA don't think there is a SVideo.

Was there any laptop charging facility?.

Interesting - I will take my composite cable with me on the next trip and see if I can route my iPad through to the screen...
