Yes in Melbourne it is doable. The terminals are right next to each other.

You will have to go through security and immigration.

What if your arrival into Melbourne is late?

Travel agent adviced that after the check in the 1st flight, it is on airport ocntrol and airline is liable to accommodate for the next earliest flight..from travel agent

Thank you for the advice.
Yes and you literally walk from one to the other, the International terminal is in the middle of the two domestic terminals.

When you check in in Sydney, you'll receive your boarding passes for all flights, so all you have to do is clear immigration and security, which at the time of night in MEL shouldn't be too bad.

True, but are you happy to spend the night at the airport? Can travel agent move you to an earlier flight out of Sydney?

yes i am okey for that. thanks for the reply
The 10pm from sydney should arrive MEL around 1130pm. You’ll be off the plane and through security and passport control by 1145pm. You could easily accommodate a delayed departure out of sydney by say 30-40 minutes and still make the flight.

It is correct that any delay on the SYD-MEL will see you accommodated on the next flight with CX to HKG. But i suspect if the flight to MEL is known to be severely delayed before you check in they might even put you in the CX flight out of SYD at 1020pm. Keep an eye out on any possible delays to your 10pm to MEL!

Is a 4 minute walk at most. At 23:30 will be few passengers, other than those departing international.
Exiting QF domestic T3 turn right and up 1 level to T2 and to security-passport control

On the day of departure keep an eye out. If your SYD-MEL is delayed or cancelled, see if you can get on the SYD-HKG non stop. Airport staff have a greater ability to make changes or rearranges, including across different airlines.

any idea about the health declaration form i need to do online for cathay pacific - if i am just changing flights on hong kong airport, not leaving to the city...do i stil need to do this form online?

According to the CX website it says for transit you need nothing as long as remaining in the airport. You must however meet all the entry requirements of your destination.
