now price out a diversion via MEL.....

Looking at the random (cheapest) dates toward the second half of July:

CX PER-HKG-PEK return is pricing AU$1278 to AU$1526.

QF PER-SYD-PEK (QF Codeshare on MU SYD-PEK) return is pricing AU$1695 upwards.

But then you get 150 SCs going via SYD, which is probably cheaper than additional flights to CX but the inconvenience of SYD and MU !!

The QF fare seems to be limited by nothing but Flex Y ex PEK for a solid month I looked at ... is this QF Web glitch?

Regards,

BD

Thanks for that research. I forgot about MU. That price difference is not as bad as I thought.
Still, is it worth it?

There has been no reduction in SC earn for PER-HKG on CX - it has always been 30 in eligible discount Y (and so forth for other classes). HKG-PEK has been reduced, however. The old earning bracket was at 1200 miles, but that bracket has since moved up to from 1500 miles.

It is according to the QF calculator now 25 SC's
