Anyone care to share what flights are left?

This article was written on 31 December and doesn't include changes made since. For example, SYD to HKG had some 2 flights a week in January and that was changed last week to one flight for the rest of the month.

And one of the nails in the coffin

Just received a survey from CX:

Thank you for being a valuable customer of Cathay Pacific. As we look to improve our product and service offerings, we would appreciate about 15 minutes of your time to hear your views on our loyalty programme and communications channels

Based on everything that we have been discussing here in the last little while I can't help but think that they are ignoring the elephant in the room.

Probably they're ignoring that elephant because if they did mention it, it would stamp on them some more.

I completed the survey in the interests of science and sentimentality. Unfortunately there was no question which gave me the option to point out indoor elephants. I would have advised them to ditch the Cathay bit and move to the Pacific bit. Not realistic I know, but they have no future in HKG and I would have enjoyed watching the elephant get cranky again if they fled with their planes.

cheers skip

STrategically where would they go? Is there any airports/cities that would have capacity?

CX101 just flew overhead on the way in from HKG (A350). No sign of a departure scheduled for CX100, so perhaps bringing pax in, but not taking them out.

No idea really, hence my comment that it was unrealistic. Lousy time to set up an airline anywhere. One unrealistic option is Taipei, which might make the elephant trumpet and dance quite a bit. Another out of fantasyland is Australia somewhere, I quite fancy flying CX, the long haul version please, across to a borderfree WA.

I felt uncomfortable with this comment of yours saying it’s media hype oh hkers fleeing - you would not say that had you known what hkers had suffered at the hands of CCP in the last few years…
Apologies for the offense caused. It was not my intent. I know a few friends in HK. Many (perhaps all) have an external passport to ‘flee’ but have not had a need to yet, despite all the pro-China policies being asserted in HK.

I acknowledge it would be tougher on those without an external passport.

It has the feel of the end of Cathy with capacity / demand to be swallowed by mainland airlines and the shell remaining to be merged into another airline.
