Spoke to SPG this afternoon and got this response (Four Points Brisbane wasn't on the list so I rang):

Further to our tele-conversation, I am pleased to inform you all Asia Pacific Starwood Hotels are participating in this promotion, this included Four Points by Sheraton Brisbane.

Booked my Gold night this weekend and it came up as a Hot Escapes despite the Hot Escapes not being out yet. Bonus!

According to this table https://www.commbroker.com.au/Net/Documentum/products/credit-card-products/comparison-table.aspx it is still a world mastercard. According to this World MasterCard® | Starwood Preferred Guest®, it is still available until the 14/7/16.

Short answer, yes. After one night though.

What are people's experiences with the validity of the Gold status? If I recall it's only supposed to last for six months but I suspect it would follow the normal SPG membership pattern (whatever that is).

If I was to make my stay this month when would my status likely expire?

I'll give it my best shot! Have existing bookings for Tokyo (early Jan)... I dare not amend.

Assuming their system is as good as AMEX in terms of registration/booking - I'm all good! Based on what I posted above ... this should give me 12 months of Gold
