Centurion annual fee

If ‘awe’ is the major draw card to holding a card, then it’s definitely a waste of money especially as we now mostly tap to pay with our phones. Don’t think anyone will see our cards again.

These days I rarely carry my wallet. Indeed my loyalty cards are scanned in.
I’m with Meadowfield and prefer to fly low and seek practical value. The prepubescent at Maacas wouldn’t give a toss is my guess and is the least person I feel necessary of impressing!

You think someone working at McDonalds would know what AMEX is, let alone a Centurion card? ;)
I've had a few occasions in the past where I've handed the card over instead of just tapping it, or using my phone (often plugged in for CarPlay), and they've commented on it... but you're right, they probably didn't know what AMEX was. Sometimes I ask before paying and they have no clue what I'm talking about, but easier than watching it fail and then having to say 'wrong card' and look like I'm poor/my limit has been maxed out :p

Just received call from my RM for the $500 rebate. Off to WOW to do some shopping. Hope we get a few other offers - assuming COVID situation would have to get worse for that. I'm hoping it will get better even though I guess we might not see so many offers. Appreciate the initiative from Amex :)

Can you please elaborate more on the "rebate"?
I've checked and there's no new offers in the app and I haven't heard anything from my RM in regards to rebates/discounts to the annual fee this year.

Would be a good initiative if they offered this to everybody.

I think they’re working through everybody. I only got my call this morning and then I got an email but my RM had already enrolled me. Might be targeted but don’t think so.

I took up the offers earlier in the year so that doesn’t seem to have disqualified me which I’m glad of.

As you can see, I've done reasonably well in the last month (and year) - card fee is £575 so have done slightly better than that with the offers available in the UK!
