CEO refuses to put tablet on flight mode 10 Nov

Yes, it is safe to leave it on according to a very senior tracing captain I know well.
But, yes, it is a rule, and quite frankly very easy to switch to flight mode, especially if specifically requested to do so.
It would seem clear that this self styled very important person wished to assert his self importance.....and got bitten in the bum as a result. Pity the other PAX had to be inconvenienced though.
PS I hope (but don’t expect) that Qantas have blacklisted him.

For such a short flight he could have been there and back onto his iPad pretty quick.

Or if he just left it until after take off no one would have probably noticed.

One has to wonder what the repercussions would be for him.

Could he be facing a life time ban from Flying on Qantas?

Would Qantas share these details with Virgin thus ensuring he cant fly commercially?

What would be the penalties, if any, he is now facing?

Can't believe that I have read here "---- but there are others who do it and get away with it!" What sort of a school boy mentality is that? "he's got a lolly so I should be given one too!" Just maybe the pilots and FAs have devices that are specially adapted for in-flight use? Let's just worry about ourselves as individuals and do the right thing - no need to question CASA's rules or we'll all end up in a heap of twisted metal on the ground or in the sea - is that too hard?

According to the 3AW rumor file, he got special Lounge access, and a bunch of extra points for being an ars!!! he was disadvantaged !!in having to wait for another flight
