I have been CL for 9 years. There are very few benefits above Plat. apart from the "exclusive" domestic lounges, RARE preferential treatment from Qantas staff and that's about it....no glamor, no automatic upgrades. Feel free to bombard me with questions!

Hi, and welcome!

Sure you want all the questions? :)

I note you've listed your status as QF Chairmans Lounge / AA Concierge Key / CX Marco Polo Diamond. That's a pretty impressive set of top tier (and above top tier) statuses.

Are you able to hint at your travel profile (or company status) that earns you these?

OhSoTired,

Welcome to AFF.

People are of course inquisitive about your position, status and travel patterns but probably aren't quite sure where/what to ask of you at this stage.

Do you travel mainly domestic or international and what are your thoughts on the pros and cons of the various airlines relative to each other :?:

Here is a couple of quick ???'s

How did your original membership come to be??
When you first took up membership, did QF approach you with an invite to the CL or did you negotiate with them via your spend dollars as leverage? or were you introduced via a 3rd party, which l have heard of occuring before.

When traveling on airlines other than QF does your CL membership help you in any way. In other words do other airlines try to sway your business with the knowledge of your status and importance to QF, with pricing offers, service enhancements or added ground services.
Do they attempt to poach you.

Is it true you can get guaranteed seat on any flight regardless of loads?

After 9 years of membership to CL what changes have you seen occur with the membership.
Have things got better or worse with treatment and benifits?
Do you truly feel valued and relevent to QF.

And finally,

Why is CL membership important to you, whats in it for your situation?

Thanks for posting and welcome to AFF

While we're on the subject of CL, I was travelling on QF467 last night and on top of the obligatory welcome to QF/OW Frequent Fliers, the Cabin Manager also welcomed CL Members.

One would of thought that QF would of kept this hush hush like everything else to do with the CL :p

I've got a question for you!

If you walk into the domestic CL, turn right at the counter, walk to the end and turn right again, what do you see on the wall?

Looking forward to your response!

Depends on which Domestic CL you are talking about, russ...

I also welcome you OhSoTired and look forward to your input, wherever you can.

Won't this depend on which domestic CL you're referring to ? (Or is there some feature identical in each ?)

Richard.

nothing wrong with being a sceptic...

Russ - I assume you are a CL member ?

or russ may have been in the SYD CLounge and remembers what is on that particular wall, as it caught his attention.... :)

No, I am not a member, just a Plebeian Guest! (Might I suggest a new "PG" acronym?)

As Lindsay says, the contents of the wall caught my attention and I was interested to see if it caught OhSoTired's attention as well! ;)

Hasn't the SYD CL closed and moved to a new location?

Hasn't the SYD CL closed and moved to a new location?

When going to the J lounge on Tuesday I saw a sign at the top of the escalator referring to the "Private lounge" having relocated - so yes I believe it has.

(who is never likely to know the inside of the CL)

Re: Chairman's Lounge, what it really offers.

Well I am a sceptic and I hope to be proven wrong.

That is a very impressive first post and no activity on AFF since the first post. Must be a very busy CL and we are lucky to have one join AFF and answer all the questions one wanted to know about Chairmans Lounge. Does anyone even really care what the Chairmans Lounge looks like or the benefits involved?

Only just over 48hrs since the post from OhSoTired, so I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt for a while longer.

I'm sure a lot of people are interested and a few would really love to know.

Mainly international. Singapore and Cathay far and away the best. BA and AA second tier but consistent. Qantas extremely variable- can have some wonderful experiences and be very proud of them, only to be profoundly disappointed on the very next flight or even sector!

SYD lounge was about to be shut down last time I was there- bar and toilets off to your right, plans for the new lounge dead ahead and then the alternate exit off to the right... Trick question?;)
