Change seats at T-80?

unless it's gone under airport control for some reason.
yes, but at T-80 on domestic usually pax can still select opened up seats.. or used to be able to.

I have a silver co-worker who loves bragging about grabbing a seat in row 4....

My point is that at T-80 it has absolutely, positively, definitely gone under airport control. No "for some reason" about it.

I take your point. tbh in my experience airport control has only been an issue in terms of changes, within check in window for the flight - so usually 24 or so hours prior, and sometimes less. As I noted before it's been more than common for changes to be made to seat selection and so on right up to, and including OLCI for QF flights (obviously QFlink props are different).

Given that Ade was able to have his seat allocated by the phone agent today that supports that whatever was going on prior to today was for some other reason.

That's all my point was really about :)
