Change to SQ Earn Rates

I sent back another email, again restating that its been 2 weeks with no response and that you would like one urgently. I believe one of the other members here stated that threatening to involve ACA has resulted in them getting results.

My first email was personally answered approximately 2 1/2 days after sending it, and then 2nd email was replied to about the same time frame.
After the 2nd response and being told it was being passed onto SQ I received no more emails or updates and saw 18 days later the points and SC had been adjusted.

Points and SCs on the old rate finally credited! Sent a follow-up email after not hearing or seeing anything for 3 weeks. Got a response from velocity platinum the next business day saying that they'd chase up SQ again and my account was adjusted accordingly by the end of that business day!

My wife has just taken a couple of flights on Singapore Airlines (booked in December 2017) and I have an upcoming trip (booked in October 2017)

Several months ago, I received the e-mail from Velocity about reductions in Velocity Point and SC earning rates for SQ flights, and the Velocity website indicates that the change-over date to the reduced earn-rate was 1st March 2018.

I have been planning our SC earn and am totally convinced that the advisory e-mail from Velocity said that flights booked prior to a certain date (presumably the date on which the e-mail was sent??) would earn at the old rates, even if the flights themselves were taken after 1st March, when the reduced rates kicked in.

Unfortunately, I have just noticed that my wife's ADL-SIN-LHR flight has only earnt 70 SC's in M class economy (30 for ADL-SIN and 40 for SIN-LHR) i.e. the new earn rates have been used as M is re-classifed from full-fare to discount economy. If correct, it obviously makes a massive difference to my calculations, but I have long since deleted the e-mail from Velocity.

Can anyone please assist / confirm whether her flights (booked in Dec 2017 and flown in June 2018) and / or my upcoming flights (booked in Oct 2017) should have earned Velocity points and SC's at the old rates (140 SC's for ADL-SIN-LHR) or at the new, reduced rates (70 SC's)??

UPDATE - have just found an AusBT article from 12th March which states "To avoid short-changing passengers who had already booked one of these affected fares for future travel, a Virgin Australia spokesperson has confirmed to Australian Business Traveller that flights booked before March 13 2018 will earn points and status credits at the previous rates." Sounds like a phone call or e-mail to Velocity is in order.....!!

Obviously, they had a change of heart...

On the 12th of July everyone that was on a booking back in March (but booked before the change) got a points adjustment with no emails, calls or contacting Virgin.

It's only an extra 45 status credits and 1297 points but It'll make getting to Platinum just a bit easier.

I had an adjustment post close to the end of June (for Mar/Apr flights)...it may have been a double up of previous adjustments! ;)

I have had exactly the same. Family booking under old rates pre-13 Mar; flown and credited as new (poorer) rates in Jun; and now an out of the blue adjustment with the relevant extra points and SC.

I even had the SC earn page from the website open ready to fire off a message to them and they’ve beaten me to it by solving the problem. Well done VFF.

I'm flying SQ in a few weeks time (booked early Jan), will be interesting to see if the SCs are applied at the old rate straight up.

So will all flights flown from now on but booked before 13 March automatically get credited at the previous rate? Or will we still have to contact Velocity to chase it?

I've been following this closely as I have a trip to LHR in December. Presently, I do not have enough SC to maintain Gold and my Gold will run out while I'm over there. However, if the SC are awarded at the old rates then I will have enough to renew Gold for the return leg. I want to have Gold for the return leg so I can utilise the extra luggage allowance and lounge access. I don't want to be locked in an e-mail war for several weeks to only be awarded my Gold status after the long trip.

Your SG status is technically still good for one month after your renewal date, even if you do not requalify....

Ah, I did not know that. That's much better. In that case I'll definitely still have Gold for the return leg. Then I can argue the extra SCs afterwards if I have to.

I travelled on SQ in September on W class fares booked in late 2017.

Each flight credited the next day at the new reduced SC/FFP earning rates. As I did not need these SC to retain VA WP, I was tossing up if it was worth the effort chasing the missing FFP.

Looking at my VFF account this morning, I note that manual adjustments have been made for all of the affected SQ flights, adding all of the missing SC and FFP.

VFF made these adjustments by themselves and zero action was required on my part.

Amazing what a little patience (or in this case laziness) can achieve....

Same for me. I just got back from flying around the world with SQ. 2 days after each leg, the SCs were added at the new lower earn rate. I figured I'd ring them after the whole trip was finished and discuss it then.

3 weeks after my first two legs, the extra SCs were magically credited to my account.

Now I'm waiting for the last legs' extra SCs to be manually added, I have 6 weeks till my review date and these extra points will be the difference between qualifying and not.
