Changed Flight Timing, likely to miss connection. Options?

That policy that you have found does not exclude bookings that are originally in x class it says that you cannot rebook into x class.

That means if you have any sort of ticket you cannot be re accommodated in an award booking class
. If you already have an award booking class you can be moved to any revenue class as long as the lowest in that class

I wish the Qantas phone monkeys listened to what I say.

The keep insisting X can only be rebooked on X even after I cite their own policy.

Will escalate via dedicated email but not hopeful.

Unless u are through to Hobart it might be difficult

The alternative is to ask them to actually ticket. Which it won't. Then they might actually understand that there is a problem. at the moment they probably think you're trying to do a voluntary change.

They are probably going on minimum connecting time at Sydney which is 1 hour and 5 minutes and won't understand that London is longer
 
Just be wary of the risks of going too hard on this.

In some cases, QF has just unilaterally cancelled and refunded the entire itinerary. In others, they have made changes, but failed to reticket the partner airline sectors in time, resulting in all the award seats being lost.

Both scenarios have happened to users on this site.

As I understand it, the alternate flight is only 3 hours earlier. Given the above risks, I'd be inclined to take it. Sometimes "the perfect can be the enemy of the good".
 
Can't even get through to a "form". All I get is "call us" on +61 1300 659 161

In that case try typing Qantas complaints into google and it should be the top result. They will try and fob you off to self help articles, but just close the pop-up.

Maybe just go with the current literary, and if you miss the connection Qantas will have to do something about it.

As long as you're a bit flexible, but that seems as it will have to be the case in any event.

I’m just wondering though… not meeting MCT the ticket will auto cancel at some point?

That's what we are going to do for now.

Even when calling them, they have no idea the connection is breaching MCT so... Maybe it's not being flagged?

They likely wont understand until they try to reticket. That will be the first flag f9r them to investigate.

They will have in their mind 1 hour MCT for sydney, and that’s about it.

Call Qantas, ask them to reticket. It should come back with an error. Ask them for options. I would take the simplest, but less convenient option, of flying from RAK a couple of hours earlier.

The domestic connectors aren’t such as issue, you will be put on the next available flight after arrival.

Yeah we automatically got reticketed with the updated flight time already. Same PNR but different e-ticket number.

It came through without issues so definitely don't know why the MCT issue didn't trip

Didn't they change the AU D>I MCT to 90 mins last year? They changed my CBR-MEL flight on a trip to SIN last year because it was 85 mins and no longer met the MCT.

Maybe QF thinks the LHR connection is within the same terminal. I-I MCT are 1 hour within the same terminal, 1:30 changing between any of T2, T3 and T5 and 1:45 with T4 involved.

Yes, i wasn’t sure the new MCT at SYD, only that it was pushed out by a bit earlier this year.

I think you might be right on the MCT at LHR. BA’s page still lists it at 1 hour for the same terminal, although moving to 75mins from next year.

If the ticket has been processed the airline will be responsible for getting the passenger home. I think BA has a later flight to SYD, so the OP may end up on that.

So what I am really wondering is, if OP does nothing now, and essentially has a valid ticket where 2 out of 3 connections are violating MCT, then:
- will Amadeus/Qantas run some checks closer to departure time, and trigger the alarm?
- (if it stays as is) will the agent in RAK be able to check-in the party at the check-in desk, and if not, what happens then. Worst case, the agent could say, well QF issued u a valid ticket but it violates xyz, sorry, go and speak to QF now —> la
boum?
 
My reward booking was also impacted by the time change to QF2. The MCT at LHR was even still met but I’m flying in on BA and I commonly have bad delays with them arriving into Heathrow. I have a commitment back in aus so I can’t afford missing QF2. So I messaged Qantas through Facebook messenger and they moved me to an earlier BA flight without question. I find the social media team to be almost always very good. It dropped off during covid but it’s my preferred way to contact QF again now.
 
The saga ends:
  1. Asked to be rebooked on a later flight out of LHR > one agent was able to somehow put us on BA revenue fare class (YAY status credits!)
  2. This didnt get ticketed for >24hrs
  3. Called again, and was told it wouldn't get ticketed cause of BA revenue fare class :(
  4. Put onto QF2 next day to SIN, then SIN to MEL on reward class
  5. This didnt get ticketed for >24hrs, chased multiple times on phone and FB
  6. Ticketed after 48hrs

Now the mystery is if the BA really wouldn't have gotten ticketed, or....?
