Accor have announced some updated branding (News - Accor)

In Essence:

ibis becomes a Mega Brand with three brands:
- ibis, which remains ibis,
- all seasons, which will become ‘ibis styles’
- Etap Hotel, which will become ‘ibis budget’

And

A-Club will be renamed Le Club AccorHotels

I've already said my piece on this via other forums and channels, and frankly I think this is a dumb move.

On the ibis alignment, this just adds sub-branding confusion into an already wide range of brands. It also creates the problem that, by association, one brand is dragged up, and another dragged down to the ibis level.

I'd also love to dig up some statistics on brand perception of ibis within the Australasian market, my suspicion is that it's not that high now and posit this change won't help one bit.

On the A|Club change - this is just insane, and an utter waste of cash. The fact of the matter is Accor would be far better investing the money on improvements and issues with the program, rather than just wallpapering over the logo and significant problems.

And on a professional note, I just about fell out of my chair when I read the title of the press release. I can't seriously believe they used the word Dynamizing. This press release would easily allow you to win a game of bulls**t bingo.

I think they should concentrate on selling rooms with a few extras rather than changing signs. They have some good locations (for me) but I'm not interested in the logo, just the service.

Waste of money I think.

The Novotel is a bit of a dump really.
I concur, this property is well overdue for a makeover.

Accor will need to fight hard to keep this property in chain if/when it changes hands, otherwise it'll be left with a pretty poor representation left in the Perth market with only an also sub-par Mecure, an All Seasons, Ibis and a single (shudders) Formula 1.

I've always been surprised at their lack of hotels in Perth. Some of the rooms at the Langley are ok but I'll only ever stay there if I can get it on a good special - which I did the other week - $125 per night plus breakfast for 2!! Was awesome.

Hotel accommodation is a problem generally in Perth - there's only so many hotels to spread around the various chains. Seems to be more money in providing offices.

The Citigate may be joining the fold once the Mirvac properties are taken over.

..and it has happened. Took a bit of a while to find my way around the new site, but existing reservations are a bit easier to find!

Ibis rebranding - bye bye "Formule1" & "all seasons"

all seasons is becoming ibis Styles, Formule1 is becoming ibis budget and ibis is reinventing itself to make you feel even better.

With 3 brands and 1600 hotels across 55 countries, there's sure to be an ibis hotel for you!

Feel good at a great price with ibis. ibis Styles offers comfort, unique designs and style, whilst at ibis budget you can be sure of a good night's sleep at an affordable price.

The Formule 1 near the airport in Perth is already an Ibis Budget.
