Changes to Jetstar check in time closure (now earlier)

With checkin only opening 2 hours prior to departure jq effectively requiring 11% higher productivity by check in agents.

Flying Syd-Hba this Friday....will do OLCI and as carry on only, will need to get the weighing scales to make sure we don't have more than 7kg carryon....no need to worry about checkin time but will make sure to be at boarding gate > 20 mins b4 departure....will the plane be there?!

Yeh, I was going to ask a rhetorical question "Does this mean check in will now open 2:10 before departure as well?"

Or you could just have a handheld luggage scale. They're cheap and a handy tool if you travel enough. Alternatively you could simply wait till final call for your flight rolls around since from my experience the luggage scales magically disappear when they're trying to get the last stragglers to board (I wonder why?)

Plane will be there but the departure screen will be calling out another destination as your flight had a gate change and the flight has been delayed by over 2 hours.

I suspect a big reason why JetStar is encountering delays is quite simply that Australians don't know how to board airplanes. Whereas it takes the Japanese maybe 10 minutes to board a 777 on a domestic flight it takes half an hour to board a bloody A320 on JQ back here in Australia. Like folks, it ain't that hard to stow carry on bags in the overhead bin - it's like watching a toddler try to fit a square peg into a round hole. And of course they got to block the aisle while they work all of this out instead of letting everyone else get past them. BTW this isn't an Australia only thing, this happens elsewhere in the Western world, just thought I'd share this interesting observation.
