Uber has changed its QFF points earn rate for airport trips, and it looks to be effective immediately.
  • Trips booked through 'Uber Reserve' to eligible airports will continue to be 1 point per dollar spent
  • Trips booked through any other product (Uber X, Premier etc) have dropped to 1 point per $2 spent
  • First time Uber users can still earn 1,000 points for their first ever trip (providing their Uber and QFF accounts are linked first)
Qantas and Uber's websites have both been updated with the new earn rate.

I'm assuming this is a change for the worse?

Do we remember what the previous earn rates were?
Yeah, it's half for non uber reserve.

To be honest, this partnership was never that useful in terms of earn rate (and is now even less so)

How far ahead do you need to reserve for Uber Reserve?
I think it's just a few hours, but it often costs a bit more (because the price is mostly* fixed) as it tends to be on the upper end of the normal pricing

*except when there's surge pricing...

Hahah...I thought I noticed this in the past fortnight or so. Was always a strange little amount added to the points balance, then even smaller!
I always grab a taxi from an airport - purely for convenience. I only usually catch Ubers to the airport (primarily due to living close to CBD they cancel on me whenever I need one to the city) or when away from home base. No way I'm going to reserve or join up as a paying subscription member

Yes half unless you prebook.

Originally there were 2 ways to earn QFF points with Uber, airport trips and also as a redemption option for Uber plus loyalty program (something like 200QFF points per 500 uber points) so also for non airport trips.

About 2 years ago Loyalty program was changed to paid membership and QFF points redemption disappeared.

Also would note, last night got a DiDi rather than an Uber for a ride home as DiDi keep sending me 20 and 30% off coupons. Uber quote was $31, DiDi (after 30% discount) was $19. May consider DiDi for next airport trip!!

You can now earn Velocity points on the DiDi ride too ;)

Something that they've made less noise about as part of the changes (but may still benefit some) is that they've now introduced 1 point per dollar rides for Business Comfort, Comfort Electric and Premier rides on business profiles. These trips don't need to be to/from airports, any trip on those ride types is eligible as long as it's on your business profile.

Uber Reserve also has a $5-10 "reserve fee" if I recall correctly.

13cabs / silver service doesn't...
